I prefer Blizzard make money in $10 increments off of a pet that is adorable than crank out lackluster games like some other developers. With a small number of games created and extra time spent on making them high quality, it's reasonable to find other revenue streams. With the economy in the state that it is it makes sense that the company find a creative way to bring in more money. And it's not like there aren't a boatload of other pets you have access to with your $15/month. They're even mailing us all free whelps to celebrate 5 yeas of WoW.
