Official Tier 10 preview update: Priest & Paladin

UPDATE: The paladin set image was fixed on the official site and is now correct. Nice skull bolo tie, guys.
Blizzard has been a little slow with their drip of Tier 10 previews -- those who visit MMO-Champion, for example, have known what the Patch 3.3 priest and paladin sets look like for a week or more -- but it's still nice that they're trying. With that in mind, the official Tier 10 preview page was updated today, adding the priest and paladin sets. Well, the priest set, anyway -- it looks like the paladin one is actually next season's paladin PVP set -- so you paladins'll have to wait a little longer to see the official pictures of your Texas oilman/Spanish conquistador set. But at least you guys have something to look at, unlike shamans, who'll undoubtedly have to wait until the end of the PTR cycle to see what combination of exploding rocks and chains we've got for our shoulders this time.
And would it be too much to ask to get some of these sets on somebody that's not a human male, arguably the absolute worst model on which to preview armor? Looks like I've got a case of the Mondays.

Does the Shaman set have flames shooting out of its ass? Is that why they waited to show it?
Blizz is a terrible tease.

I'm hoping for giant icicle shoulders but then that's just me

Personally I'd lend you the models to the Paladin Tier 10 in a heartbeat.
I was under the impression that the Paladin class in particular was supposed to convey the power of the Light, especially seeing as we're facing the complete antithesis of the Light in Icecrown Citadel.
Our armor looks like a Shaman tier-reject, and it saddens me that the idea of a Paladin, a "holy knight in shining plate armor" doesn't follow through to the conclusion of the Wrath of the Lich King storyline.

Very nice except the helmets. I have those turned off anyways.

Yeah they look...ridiculous. With exception to the priest and rogue. Only the rogues because the geists have always been my favorite of the scourge.
I wish they'd stop sticking hug moose antlers on druid helms...

Those "antlers" are actually thorns.
Probably a reference to the Green Drake encounter in ICC and the Emerald Nightmare.

Mage Tier 10 reminds me of Warlock Tier 6. I don't know why, I think I'm focusing too much on the head gear
Shionia Nov 5th 2009 4:51PM
Not to mention that the Mage set is all festive with the green Fel Flames that warlocks have always wanted.
ZMES_Matt Nov 5th 2009 2:50PM
Why do the priests get an old Warlock hand-me-down? :(
Knob Nov 5th 2009 4:09PM
Haha yeah, the first thing I thought when I saw the priest set was "why are they wearing Dreadmist?"
Baval Nov 5th 2009 4:49PM
mages too, even paladains look like some lock/shammy hybrid. Locks are just that cool
Sterdoker Nov 5th 2009 2:52PM
Oh joy. If I play my rogue I will get to wear an weird greenish a-hole on my head.
John Nov 5th 2009 3:02PM
That's my favorite helm...very gimpy.
Babaloo Nov 5th 2009 3:23PM
I dunno, I think this is more gimpy.

THANK YOU. I've been wishing this for ages. The human male model is the single most wretched character model in the game, no arguing about it needed. My distaste for the human male character model is so profound that, in a potential PvP situation, chances are high that I'll let any Alliance go their way unmolested (even gnomes!) -- but not if it's a male human.
Grr.

I dunno, I've been playing undead for ages, and for once I'd like to be able to see my character not rip the elbows and knees out of her out fit...and why does the spine always have to be showing? Not to mention they somehow also rip the toes out of their shoes.
Personally I think the undead models look a little worse than the humans, just because it's practically the same model, but it looks like they stole their gear off a dead hobo. :/
oowxam Nov 5th 2009 4:44PM
I prefer the undead models the most...
I play an undead warlock, and I feel the bones make it... how to say... "eviler"?
While I do wish the shoes would look at least a LITTLE bit different when using different models, I think the spine, arms, and legs are perfect.
ZMES_Matt Nov 5th 2009 5:13PM
@oowxam
Yeah, I suppose it just depends on what class you're playing and/or the kind of "attitude" you see your character having. I can see how the bones showing would accentuate a Lock very nicely.
I play a priest though, and I imagine my character kind of being a very formal and well respected member of the Pulpit; instead my character looks like the insane/evangelical person on the street corner shouting random and non-sensical things at passers-by. :-P
WTB diplay toggle for undead to choose whether or not their clothes expose their bones or not.

Sigh....it looks like the priests will end up having to wear that purple mess after all. I actually almost had a little faith in the designers when I saw the white/light blue version of the armor. Maybe that was the Alliance version of the armor? To be honest in a different color set, they wouldn't look that bad. But seeing a human clad in that purple mage/lock getup with a popped collar and hood slapped on just makes me die a little inside.
Sanguinefrozenboy Nov 5th 2009 7:48PM
Me too. : /
Priest tier just...isn't all that impressive.
