The Queue: Tooth explosion

Today's edition of The Queue is gifted to you by my horrifying toothache that has kept me awake at ridiculous times of the day for the past week. You can thank the toothache for this article, because otherwise I may have done something healthy instead, such as sleep.
Mordockk asked...
"Is Quel'Delar going to be a Legendary weapon? If so, does that mean there is going to be two Legendary weapons next patch?"
Just like Quel'Delar's stats, this is something we don't really know. My gut says no, it won't be a Legendary, but it's not something I can say with absolute certainty. Blizzard has surprised us before, and they'll continue to surprise us. Still, I'm going to guess Quel'Delar and its partner items will be epics, not legendaries.
Mordockk also asked...
"How many people actually made the mace from Ulduar? We started giving the shards to one healer who took an extended break, then started giving them to another and now we have 3 healers with 10+ shards."
I don't have any solid numbers to give you, but from what I've seen, most guilds that clear 25-man Ulduar regularly have at least one. If they don't have one, they're incredibly closing to having one, within a few shards. If you didn't run into that awful healer situation there, you guys would have one, too.
Guilds that have only just now started clearing Ulduar? Yeah, they have awhile to go yet.

"WoW.com should start the About the Bloggers segment back up."
I'll talk to the bosslady about it, but I can't make any promises. As a writer, I really enjoyed those, but historically they had so-so reception with the exception of Matt Rossi's burly chest. We're a much larger site now though, so maybe second time's the charm.
Revan asked...
"Is it safe to say that we will be seeing the new Council of Tirisfal in Cataclysm?"
I believe that at BlizzCon, it was mentioned that they would be a faction in Cataclysm, one of the big dogs trying to repair Azeroth after Deathwing screws things up.
Uncertainty asked...
"What's up with the lack of PvP knowledge/awareness on wow.com? I think about 90% of the columnists on WoW.com have said on the show that they don't participate in arenas."
This is something we've been trying to do better lately. The people on our staff who don't like to arena and probably won't be convinced otherwise, but there are a number of people on the team that do enjoy PVP, and we have a number of PVP features we're trying to produce more regularly.
We have The Colosseum, which is being covered by Michael Gray and C. Christian Moore, which interviews high ranked arena players. However, those depend somewhat on actually being able to contact the people we want to talk to, and when the only contact information you have is their character name, that can be difficult. A lot of people that get in-game mail from us think it's yet another phishing scam. Understandable, but bothersome. Lately we've been trying another approach in addition to that: If you know somebody (or are somebody) that is an exceptional player in the arena and they/you want to be interview, contact Michael Gray at the email address gray AT wow DOT com. We won't necessarily interview everyone that mails in, but we'll look at and consider them all.
On top of that, Zach Yonzon will be continuing The Art of War(craft) which is a Battleground (and world PvP) based column. C. Christian Moore, a highly rated arena play himself, was also brought on board to write Blood Sport, our arena-based column. We're pushing for these to happen more regularly, so hopefully they will!
And now I go and try to get some sleep again. Fare thee well, WoW.com. Wish me luck.

A question about the new Random Dungeon feature. Let's say you sign up for the first random dungeon of the morning, and you get a place that you just can't stand. (Think OK or Occ) If you bail on the dungeon, then wait out the Deserter debuff, have you messed up your shot at the Frost Emblems for the day?
Brandon Tilley Nov 5th 2009 4:11PM
No, no matter what, the first random heroic you do in a day rewards two Emblems of Frost (at least currently).
Djbrill Nov 5th 2009 4:16PM
I think I saw somewhere that you can choose wich dungeons you wish to be looking for. So if you don't want Occ you can just take it of the list of dungeons you're looking for.
With this you should be able to avoid the situation you're discribing.

"Question:When is the particular dungeon determined and is it fixed if you degroup? Say you find yourself assigned Oculus and you have no desire to do that. If you degroup (taking the deserter debuff) and jump back into LFG 15 minutes later, are you locked into having Oculus once it has been assigned once even though you haven't completed it?
Blue Response: The dungeon is determined once the group is filled. If the group does not like the instance that's been selected, they can leave, get the Deserter debuff, and try again to get a different random dungeon once the 15-minute debuff dissipates."
"Question: You sort of answers this before, but if I got put in a dungeon that I -really- didn't want to do as my first random heroic of the day, and I drop group, wait the 15 minutes and join a new one, do I still get the 2 Frost Emblems? Or do I -have- to take the first random heroic that is presented to me to earn my Frost?
Blue Response: No, you will still be eligible for the daily loot even if you don't complete the first random Heroic dungeon you enter. "
This was taken from a Q&A, which can be found posted on MMO Champion here:

Djbrill, although I can't say for sure, that's not the impression I got from this. If you could selectively eliminate dungeons from your "random" choice, then it's no longer random. You could simply eliminate all dungeons except the one you want to do. For the Random Daily, I believe it must be chosen from all possible dungeons. That's not to say you can't say "I want to group up for either UK, UP, or VH." but I don't think that would count towards the random dungeon. (Though, if you're letting it assign group members, they would count towards getting the Perky Pug.)
Again, I'm not 100% sure on this, so if there's anyone who's tried it on the PTR, maybe they would be kind enough to find out for us. =)

Random is random. You can do the random daily with either a PUG or a premade, but you get offered which dungeon when the group is ready and the button is hit.
You can leave the party if you get a dungeon you don't want, wait 15 minutes and try again, but it will still be a random dungeon. Possibly even the same one you refused last time.

Who's the boss lady for WoW.com? I want to bribe her with cookies so we can get about the bloggers back.
Kurash Nov 5th 2009 4:19PM
Well... To the immediate right of your comment at the moment is the list of Wow.com staff. Since Elizabeth Harper is listed as the Editor-in-Chief I'd guess that's her.

It says on the right, just next to your question, that it's Elizabeth Harper. And you call yourself an Andrew!

I don't know about you guys, but to the right of his post is a bunch of gallery links. :D
But ABOVE the gallery links is the staff listing. Now, the question is, are you going to stalk her like the Burger King?

About the Council of Tirisfal thing, it's been speculated that Warchief Thrall will either be in it or will be the new Guardian, as it is highly unlikely that they are killing him off, tossing him to the side after he steps down from Warchief, or anything of the like.
Neirin Nov 5th 2009 7:00PM
The thing about Thrall being the new guardian of Tirisfal was part of a fake "leak" of Cataclysm a while before even the worgen/goblin masks were found. We really don't know what Thrall is going to be up to except that at some point he gets captured by the Alliance for the goblin starting zone (which may have already happened like the worgen story). If anyone is going to show up as the next Guardian it's probably Me'dan ( http://www.wowwiki.com/Med%27an ), who is currently being groomed for the task.
Also interesting speculation for major figures is why Saurfang the Elder isn't in charge of the Horde instead of Garrosh (seriously, even Varian is polite to Saurfang and he's a heck of a lot nicer/smarter/etc than Garrosh) and how does that relate to Cairne's disappearance? I think there's a possibility that these guys are going to form a new faction led by Thrall (and Jaina most likely) that exists between the Horde and Alliance. One of them becoming the new Lich King is also a possibility, though I wouldn't rule out Morgraine or Tirion for that role.
tripleoooks Nov 5th 2009 10:09PM
where can i sign up to this faction?
garrosh or varian? i'll go for thrall/jaina middle ground
