Breakfast Topic: How random your dungeon is

The whole experience was pretty much universally positive for me, so I'm looking forward to seeing the implementation in patch 3.3. My question for you is, are you likewise excited? Will you run it until you get the pet and then say sayonara to random dungeoning? How are you going to make use of this new feature, or will you at all?
Patch 3.3 is the last major patch of Wrath of the Lich King. With the new Icecrown Citadel 5-man dungeons and 10/25-man raid arriving soon, patch 3.3 will deal the final blow to the Arthas. WoW.com's Guide to Patch 3.3 will keep you updated with all the latest patch news.Oh, and consider this a little added bonus feature.

Here I am, post falling off of the cliff. To Shamdunk and the other members of that PuG, yes, that really was me, and I'm sorry I fell off a cliff while we were fighting two pulls about to go into the tunnel. Cheers to all you random puggers out there, you'll never know when that DK, warrior or shaman in the back turns out to be me now.

I too am looking forward to this feature, especially on my horde warlock who has in the past had much difficulty pugging anything, due to my relatively crap gear and high dungeon e-standards, as well as the seeming lack of horde playaz.

I'm EXTREMELY EXCITED. lol infinite heroics! If you put the time in, you'll get the reward of gold, conquest and triumph.
Nick Nov 8th 2009 8:51AM
You mean gold, frost, and triumph. :)
Mike Nov 8th 2009 8:52AM
Though I see the entendre you're making here, in 3.3 you'll be collecting Triumph and Frost emblems :)
Nick Nov 8th 2009 9:05AM
Nick, give me back my name!!11111
>.

Actually, I think it's gold, frost, triumph AND conquest lol...on the PTR, the bosses still drop conquests. It's 2 triumph after the first 2 frost, which I forgot about. So...yum. I can't wait for 3.3 lol. ^.^

Both of you Nick's, give me back my name?
deplicitus Nov 8th 2009 2:53PM
Actually the bosses will drop triumph. Conquest will no longer be the default.
Twilit Soul Nov 9th 2009 9:11AM
So...they will drop triumph, and we'll get two more triumph after every heroic?
Darrk_Hammer Nov 8th 2009 8:12AM
I am really excited for it but I just hope that ppl understand how powerful that tool is. Seriously extra emblems AND gold just for getting a Pug that you Don't have to bother ppl to join??? That is just amazing! Plus the fact that it is unlimited makes the fact that much more sweeter.
Babaloo Nov 8th 2009 9:41AM
Wait, so you get gold for every heroic dungeon you PuG or is it the 68 or whatever gold is only awarded once a day? (Assuming it's a full PuG ofcourse).
Spiraea Nov 8th 2009 11:18AM
I think you'll get gold for every PuG you do a day but after the first one, the amount of gold you get will go down.
Nick S Nov 8th 2009 2:01PM
Sadly, it also has the power to assign you Heroic Oculus every... single... day...

The Occulus hate is pretty pervasive, but with the average iLevels of players nowadays, the drakes are bit more sturdy. I predict the playerbase will become more comfortable with the dungeon since it's either suck it up or wait 15 minutes.
Super Healer Nov 9th 2009 9:06AM
Is random really random? I thought you can select which dungeons you are considered for, and "untick" those like Occ that you dont want to go to? Maybe I got it wrong :)
If thats the case if you really wanted to go to VH (for example) for an item, you could just join LFG and untick everything except VH meaning you could repeat it all day until you get the item?

Yes I"m very excited about this especially since a friend of mine just hit 80 on his lock my DK friend and I are working to gear him out. With how this is looking to be I can't wait. Not only is there incentive for him to do it (new gear and badges), but for me it's having extra gold, extra emblems, and possibly a new pet (even though to be fair I'm not a fan of collecting pets lol). I really can't wait for this hopefully it will come out really soon. Blizz you did a good job on this one. *Adds an additional 15 dollars into Blizzards pockets* You guys deserve it this time. :D

Even after getting the pug pet, I'm seeing the LFG tool as being an excellent 'boredom-buster". Don't have much to do? Whack yourself in a PUG raid/heroic and earn yourself some gold and emblems. With heirlooms purchasable with Emblems of Heroism, there's decent motivation to farm.
Be nice if there were a few more cool 'extras' to go for once you pick up your [Reins of the Wooly Mammoth]...
ArgentDK Nov 8th 2009 8:15AM
I think it'll be a great way to get some extra cash and gear up my off-spec (DPS) (especially since all heroics will be upgraded to triumph emblems in 3.3).

I confess, I've been on the PTR just so i can participate in the new LFG. It's simply awesome and it works really well. I've observed that it's really good at putting a nice class balance together. No grouping with 4 pallies and a druid because thats all you've got. I'm totally excited for the cross-server LFG tool!
Kudos to Blizzard on this one :)
Dustmonkey Nov 8th 2009 8:31AM
I'm SEVERELY looking forward to using this new feature. A question about it though, is it just random dungeons, or can you choose to run ANY dungeon? If so, are those dungeons limited like the current LFG interface? Or can a level 80 choose to join a RFC group? ... Can you even PICK non-WotLK dungeons?
