Around Azeroth: Across the wasteland
Now that players can jump directly into Burning Crusade content at level 58, Silithus has got to be one of the least-visited places in Azeroth. Long, painful quest lines intended for levels 57+? Random scorpion and worm attacks? Oh, and don't forget the joy of dying in the underground hives and trying to find a place to rez where you're not immediately swarmed by creepy insects. Ick. The only reason to go back there is to grind Cenarion Circle rep, which is what Nephilerin of <Quod Erat Demonstrandum> on Alexstrasza was suffering through when he snapped this screenshot of Ahn'Qiraj. This brings back so many memories. On a related note, anyone know if they've developed that Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind brain-wiping procedure yet?
Do you have any unusual, beautiful or interesting World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We'd love to see them on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@gmail.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. Please include the word "Azeroth" in your post so it does not get swept into the spam bin. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing -- use alt-Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards, Val'kyr on mounts, or pictures of the Ninja Turtles in Dalaran. Older screenshots can be found here.

I disagree. It is very good leveling place for 55-56 level and I've many times dinged there my last level before Outland :)

My favorite Kalimdor zone and maybe my favorite zone ever. I love the creepy vibe and the swarming insects. It's a shame people don't head there more, I think it's awesome. And yes, it's a good 55-58 level.

It is creepier in part because there are so few players there now. Still a good place to hunt for thorium ore, though!

Got to love Silithus. That, and Stranglethorn Vale.

Don't forget Marauders! Always fun to be ambushed by them while riding to AQ and trying to organize the raid

I disagree, I don't like the zone at all.
in fact I spend far too much time there farming essence of air to fund my epic mount back at 60

This reminds me a lot of Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time when you ventured into Gerudo Valley.
Excellent picture.

When I saw the picture I immediately thought of the Muse song Knights of Cydonia: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8WP7aOD_9Q (Couldn't find a nonlive version, anyway, just as awesome and appropriate).

I first ventured down there when I was level 58. I was told to go kill the bugs and do some of the quests to level to 60. I am 50-50 on this zone. I like the AQ instances. The Twin Emperors and C'thun are still challenging fights if you bring in people who have never been there.
And bug mounts! There was a rumor earlier this year that those were going to be made world-wide and the drop rate would decrease. Those of us with bugs decided we would ride those instead of pretty much anything else
Some of the quests are interesting but the zone always felt a bit incomplete, as if this was the last place designed and there was a deadline coming so, "let's just stick a bunch of scorpions and worms here and make players have to get body parts repeatedly". And the zone is huge. Desolace has greater appeal with the same kind of starkness.
I was very happy to get exalted with the Cenarion Circle so I didn't have to kill bugs anymore. I'd like to do the quests for the armor just to say I've done them, but, as opposed to other armor rep grinds, such as Zandalar, Tier 2.5 is confusing. Maybe it was designed that way so there would be something for people who hit the level cap could do. Hmmmm. Sounds familiar.

I love Silithus. Between Silithus, Felwood and Winterspring, I was able to avoid leveling in EPL/WPL completely on my warlock which is A+ to me.
Plus, so much thorium. I went there the first time on my main (after getting to 80 level cap) while working on loremaster. I hadn't leveled through there to outland originally because the boyfriend hates the zone, claiming it harder to level in than EPL/WPL. Well, coming back to do loremaster (and the subsequent Cenarian rep grind because I just could not get enough of the place), I was in love.
All of my toons since have spent at least 1 or 2 levels in Silithus. The quests are interesting and foreboding. The mobs are challenging. There's a very low amount of ganking that goes on due to the generally low population in the zone and how large it is.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
Yes.
For the people who say Jim Carrey can't act, suck on that.
