I've read the list and I'm excited about the changes. I am just guessing, imho, that the reason the old world is so depressing is because it's so bleak and deserted. Not by players, but by NPCs.I remember hating Charred Vale and Stonetalon, simply NOTHING is going on in there. One small outpost for horde, and even then it's at the far south end of the zone. Similary for Desolace and Badlands. From reading the changes, it seems like the direction they're taking is to allow more little outposts where there are quest givers and vendors and repairs, and gasp even mailboxes scatteered throughout the zone. I'm just guessing, but this has been the pattern in OL and NR, and it's been working out really well. An example that they did do well was Elwynn Forest, maybe the West area. There is a keep near where Hogger is that lets you sell and repair as well as a small quest hub. In general, I felt that my Elwynn experience was really good, but it soon died away in Westfall, the land of nothingness.
