Maintenance for Tuesday November 10th
There will be a round of realm maintenance for everyone tomorrow, Tuesday November 10th from 5:00 a.m. PST / 8:00 a.m. EST until 11:00 a.m. PST / 2:00 p.m. EST. This is more or less the "normal" maintenance time we've all come to know and love. The downtime tomorrow should not be taken as any indication that patch 3.3 is dropping; that event is still a couple weeks away at best. The patch tonight was a "tools patch," that while temporarely screwed things up for the majority of people, wasn't anything that changed things significantly -- at least as far as we all can tell.
If anything else develops of this downtime, we'll be sure to let you know.

Hi, let's talk about the download issues tonight.
Yet another night waiting to play while patch problems are ironed out.

Looks like they updated the Blizzard Updater, Launcher, Repair Utility, and Scan.dll.
Leviathon Nov 10th 2009 12:02AM
They prepared the client for the background downloading of 3.3.

it took forever to download...prolly because everyone was trying to pull from it at once.
I had to pull some new patch files onto my desktop from the worldofwarcraft folder and from the data/enUS folder til the patch was done...then put them back...and it worked.
plus now i get some lime green helm bug on other players...and when i went to mount on my drake it brought up a nether ray...love patches late at night when we're trying to raid...had to cancel cuz we lost too many for too long.

Looks like they also deleted some of the data cache MPQ files as well (check out your C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Logs\Blizzard Updater Log.html for details about all the changes made)

Quick typo fix up there: It's actually 2:00PM EST, not 1:00

"The patch tonight was a "tools patch," that while temporarely screwed things up for the majority of people, wasn't anything that changed things significantly "
reword that to say "that CONTINUES to ANNOYINGLY EFF THINGS UP..."

I'm still unable to download the patch or log in. All of the "solutions" suggested by Blizzard are bogus. Take a look at the forums, people are still having problems and they're generally pissed off about it.
sylectris Nov 9th 2009 11:41PM
yup, nothing has worked, i have been at it for 4 hours now, it has downloaded, i have repaired, i have done everything bliz has suggested and none of it is making a scrap of difference

Why would a patch drop at almost 1:00 in the afternoon? :P (I think you were trying to imply a midnight release there, which would be 11:59 pm).
sankto Nov 10th 2009 4:35PM
my bad. Never realised my error ^^'

Right now players cannot launch a second instance of WoW using the launcher. It's because of the patch. They're telling people to launch the second instance of the game using wow.exe in the WoW folder instead of using the launcher for it, now.

Any particular reason why this POS couldn't have waited until tomorrow?
Thetealone Nov 10th 2009 2:07AM
I'd bet anything that this is to prepare the client to withstand the battle.net features sure to drop any time after the 11th... Mmm ive been waiting for these features. I have friends on several realms because we all split up... Hard to keep in touch... Until (now?)
havitech Nov 10th 2009 3:31AM
Honestly...one of the people in my 10man ToC pug DCed after we killed Anub and before we did loot. He said on vent, that he couldn't log back on because it was trying to download a patch. Really, that was just silly.

my guess is that either today's stuff was to prepare the servers for something tomorrow (i.e. bnet conversion) or some intern just got fired for pressing the wrong button.
