The first thing for a parent who is a potential raider is to join a guild with mature people in it. Usually this means the majority is in their 30s and 40s. This way your team members will have either "been there, done that" or have their own spawn problems.
I'm in a 4 year old guild that has around 120 members and a large portion of the active players have children. It's not unusual in a raid to hear "Hold on, my daughter/son/dog needs to go to/has already been to the toilet - gimme me 5 min". We do require people try and make the time interruption free, but we all recognise that children (or pets) are important.
