Yeah, that happens if you reply to a comment that gets deleted. Your comment gets promoted to full comment status, which subsequently robs it of context and can lead to being misunderstood.

In the case of replies to idiots responding "first" (which is where this happens most) you often end up looking like you're trying to BE a jackass instead of BERATE one. I've found just ignoring the trolls and trusting Wow.com to delete them (which they've gotten quite good at) is the safest path.
