Blizzard Twitter contest winners still await prizes [Updated]

An interesting post came up on Pixelated Geek the other day, however, wondering about the results of that contest and if Blizzard had ever gotten around to giving prizes to winners. Or if they'd ever gotten around to contacting the winners at all. The writer notes that he himself was a winner, having received a tweet from @Warcraft requesting for further details, an e-mail he promptly responded to. He then notes sending several more e-mails to the noted address as well as to customer service but has not yet gotten a single reply to date, nearly two and a half months after the contest ended on August 24.
The author also notes several other Twitter users who were asking the same question -- as it turns out, more than a few #Battlecry winners also hadn't received prizes nor responses from Blizzard. One follower asked, "any news for the winners of #battlecry? I haven't heard or received anything yet," while another mused, "Wondering when I will receive my prize from the #Battlecry contest." Still another asked, "has anyone got their Battlecry prize yet? I haven't received anything" just last November 6. One WoW.com reader even wrote us at the end of October confirming the same thing, that he had won but had not received any word from Blizzard, much less a prize.
Update: We have received word from one of the winners that Blizzard sent them an email confirming their prize will be sent soon.
It's a curious situation made even more curious by the inconvenient fact that Blizzard's own page about the contest is down (as shown in the picture above... although the Twitter bird might not actually be involved). Nobody seems to know the answer at this point, and Blizzard has been somewhat mum on the matter. Although Pixelated Geek's article questioned the contest as a possible farce, it might also just be one of those things lost in Blizzard's bureaucracy. Until Blizzard releases a statement about the matter, we won't know for sure, although it must admittedly be frustrating for those winners left hanging in the air. Stay tuned to WoW.com as we try to get to the bottom of things.

You know you can forward your address right?
sgtrama Nov 11th 2009 3:13PM
You can forward address with the post office, but who's to say they'll ship USPS? If it's FedEx or UPS they may just leave the package at the door, in which case there's a good chance I'll never see it.

The prize distribution method we use is working as intended. You will receive your prize soon. We will not give you an estimated date because you will tend to hold us to that as if it was written stone.

Wait . . . you ridicule and scrutinize Blizzard for taking a few months to deliver prizes yet you explain your prize delays and expect people to respect that? You may want to remove the log in your eye before you can point out the speck in someone else's. Very tasteless.

I got the notification I won the #battlecry as well, replied with my info, haven't gotten anything.

Hi. This is Nelson form PixelatedGeek. Thanks for helping us get to the bottom of this WoW.com. We have been trying to contact Blizzard directly with no response. We were hoping you had anyways to get an answer from them.
Thank you again.

Were the Twitters accounts claiming to be Blizzard even real?
There are so many fakes on Twitter, I wouldn't be surprised at all.
Social Engineering ? :P

Blizzard is terrible at rewarding their contests. For example over at WorldofRaids we ran a contest back in APRIL where the winners would get a free copy of Arthas. Well now it's November and after countless e-mails to Blizzard and them making up excuses Kody is resorting to having to buy the books himself to send to the winners since we have given up on Blizzard.

Yeah, I won as well. I was just thinking about it today too. Never got anything in the mail still.

Heh... when I wanted to enter a WoW.com contest, I broke down and registered so that I could leave a comment, and I never got the registration e-mail I needed to activate my account.

That's...frustrating.

Wow, I just received an e-mail from Blizzard about the #Battlecry prize, an hour and a half after the WoW.com article! woot! Turns out you guys have a lot of influence :)
Oh and the e-mail says: This email is to inform you that we will be sending out the final batch of prizes for the Twitter Battlecry contest soon. Thanks for your patience and we hope you enjoy your prize.

"That sets a bad president, as we don't want to hide issues..."
I think you meant precedent and not Obama, right?
;P

Got mine today. Horde t-shirt from JINX and a License Plate holder that says "My other ride is a swift windrider"
Too bad I play alliance and the shirt is too small. Guess I got Christmas presents for my nephew who does play Horde.
