Patch 3.3 PTR: Emblem of Frost gear revealed

Another PTR build was pushed out today for patch 3.3. The item levels for the Frost level gear are 264. As always, there's a new assortment of trinkets to select from. Tanks may be interested in the Corroded Skeleton Key. Healers who don't already possess decent healing trinkets will want to pick up Purified Lunar Dust. For DPS players, you have the choice of a Herkumi War Token or Maghia's Misguided Quill. The latter is for casters due to the increase in spell power. Can't comment too much on the physical DPS trinket. That's a lot of haste.
Another interesting thing to note is that Primordial Saronite is on the vendor. I'm not sure if this will be a permanent change when it goes live. I have a feeling the Primordial Saronite is only obtainable within the Icecrown instance for crafting reasons (like Crusader Orbs).
Anyway, new ranged slot items, trinkets, capes (back pieces), chest pieces, gloves and belts will be available for purchase. And of course, you can exchange an Emblem of Frost for an Emblem of Triumph.
Remember, Emblems of Frost are gained by completing the new weekly raid quests, taking down bosses in Icecrown Citadel or the new Vault of Archavon boss.
For the full list, check out MMO Champion.
Update: You use the Primordial Saronite to purchase recipes in Icecrown. Currently, each recipe costs 1 Primordial Saronite. You also need to be revered with the Ashen Verdict.
Patch 3.3 is the last major patch of Wrath of the Lich King. With the new Icecrown Citadel 5-man dungeons and 10/25-man raid arriving soon, patch 3.3 will deal the final blow to Arthas. Note: You also get two Frost badges from doing your first random heroic of the day, last I heard.
Dboy Nov 11th 2009 8:54PM
With all of the people complaining about the +hit and haste stat upgrades, maybe there will be better (more effective) stats on the gear that actually drops in the respective ICC heroics and raids. Maybe this is Blizzard's way of rewarding the players who are actually participating in the end-level raids, rather than just those who run the weekly raid for frost emblems.
devilsei Nov 11th 2009 9:13PM
You know how much irony (maybe a little hypocrisy too) is packed in that statement of yours? Last I heard you only get 5 badges per weekly, that means the true source of Frost emblems IS THE ICC RAID.
Dboy Nov 11th 2009 10:02PM
No need to be nasty ("that statement of yours", typing in caps, also I don't see how I'm be hypocritical... /confused as I understand what the word 'hypocrisy' means). I was merely speculating.
I was just pointing out that the Frost emblem upgrades are a step up, rather than the best you can get.
devilsei Nov 11th 2009 10:11PM
Ahh, sorry, I read it in the tone of "Angry ol'-skool playah sick of casuals gettin epics" who didn't want the good epics going to the casuals. Thats where the hypocrisy game in, since any end-game raider would be getting at least some of those anyways.
Kylenne Nov 11th 2009 10:30PM
The problem is your logic still fails. This is not a new problem for DPS casters, by any means, and there's been obnoxious amounts of +hit on caster gear since frickin' *Naxx*. Not just on badge gear for "casuals". On stuff dropping in the actual raids. Ask a DPS caster, any DPS caster, and hands down the number one gear complaint (other than ele shammies not having enough decent mail) is too much freaking hit on our stuff.
Caster itemization has been absolute shyte this entire xpac. I'd like to think Blizzard will finally get it right in ICC but judging by their track record I'm not holding my breath.

"Maghia's Misguided Quill"
No one commented on that reference yet?
Task Nov 11th 2009 10:22PM
I like most of the new gear, both DPS and healing, but I'm in agreement with Ascero, Neirin. The caster DPS trinket is a bit too much even for my Boomkin and soon Mage. The only plausible explanation for the high hit stat is to match the hit cap increase in 3.3 if any?
Matt, I have a question: "You also need to be revered with the Ashen Verdict." I understand that this is the new faction that will be introduced in Icecrown, but is there any information on who is in this faction and how they assembled?
Kai Monture Nov 11th 2009 11:02PM
They are the combination of the Argent Crusade and the Ebon Blade.
jrizutko Nov 11th 2009 10:35PM
Why does blizzard think we would want those caster trinkets? More MP5? Really? More Hit? really? Those are stats I'm trying to shed, not stack... WTF?
jrizutko Nov 11th 2009 10:37PM
And as a Resto/Elemental Shammy, the only chest piece that I'd want is the cloth.
Glad its badge gear, and I won't have to wait until all the mages and warlocks have it before rolling.
Khelest Nov 12th 2009 1:58AM
So I see where everyone's coming from, but I'm really curious to see what I can do by stacking the Emblem of Triumph and Emblem of Frost hit trinkets (+280!!), slamming on an orange +hit/sp gem to get to Spriest hit cap, and then going for pure throughput gear in every other slot. I don't think avoiding +hit will be easy, but I do think we might win out on the deal.
Also, keep in mind that if used on every CD (probably 2 minutes?), the Frost trinket averages over +120 SP. Not bad at all.
Hoggersbud Nov 12th 2009 8:50PM
I don't think you'll be able to avoid the hit on the Tier gear, as in T9 it's 3 out of 5. Maybe if there's only one piece with it in T10, but is that so..
Task Nov 11th 2009 11:03PM
Ahh ok, makes sense.
Taladan Nov 12th 2009 1:09AM
Seems "stacking" buffs is the new way to balance things nows.
Picviewer Nov 12th 2009 1:38AM
Fail on the tank trinket, the baseline stamina boost is nice but the absorb 3200 damage is way too low then to top it off it's a on use one? pass except for the ones who need to see big shiny health numbers to determine a persons gear.
On the plus side the gauntlets and belt, tanking one have my DK's name all over them while the Ermine Coronation Robes has my priests name on the back.

While I understand Blizzard's desire to get people to obtain item upgrades through raids and not badges, in a setting where you are competing against 24 other people, that is just not going to fulfill all 17 item slots. Even disregarding idols/relics/wands/etc..., it still leaves quite a bit to be desired, particularly in the universal trinket/ring/neck slots. Some modicum of use from the spellcaster or melee dps trinkets would be nice, though I'm sure others will expound on their faults to a larger and better margin then I could (though I do like the healing trinket). What I question, is why on the list do mail-wearers get boots and the rest of us do not? Particularly when recognizing that the last time we had boots from badge gear was with Valorous badges. I hope this either indicates they will add boots for other armor classes (something I would rejoice over as I am in dire need of an upgrade), or it will be removed from the list, either way, equality please, if not some measure of quality too. (and god speed to elemental shaman's, there is truly no end to their misery, see: Cloaks)

I am seriously excited about the rogue emblem gear. Back to basics. No Blue Slots, thank god.
Way better than ToC, but I think ToC gear was itemized specifically to hold us back, to slow down the scaling process just a bit so we're not doing 15,000 DPS in ICC.
Then again the set bonuses on T10 seem to be doing the same thing...almost like "You do enough DPS as it is so your set bonuses are gunna be kind of meh."
Meegaal Nov 12th 2009 7:46AM
Crappy T9 set bonuses? Mages all the way! Woo for bonuses to my armors the 5% crit is nice but kind of lacking I think for a 4 piece. Hopefully our T10 will have some better things going on for it as well. I feel bad for the rogues new armor set... I feel like unless those set bonuses were amazing I'd be trying my hardest to get nonset pieces so as not to look completely ridiculous.
Orlan Nov 12th 2009 5:41AM
And healadin relic is again useless in PvE or am I missing something? 15 sec stacking sp buff on holy shock? Are we intended to cast it on cd?
