For all of you complaining that there's no tanking version, the sister sword (Quel'Serrar) was ONLY tanking; this is just Blizzard giving (most) DPS/Heals an awesome quest-line sword, too.
BitterCupOJoe Nov 11th 2009 11:04PM
The problem is that all of the QD swords are a higher ilvl than any QS AND can be gotten by doing 5-man quests. On top of that, QS is not a particularly great tanking sword, even the 245 version. Hopefully they'll be implementing a few more weapons; there's nothing there for dagger rogues, SPriests or prot tanks, so maybe they just haven't implemented everything yet.

*Sniff*
Hopefully Blizzard has a cool tanking weapon for us in IC then.

Item level 251? Meh, the caster dagger off Beasts on Heroic TOC is significantly better...
LilBanshee Nov 12th 2009 8:58AM
So Barb of Tarasque from heroic 25-man ToC is better than a 5-man quest item... that's you're whole comment? I also hear that it's better than loot from regular nexus. Just saying.
Viper007Bond Nov 12th 2009 10:20PM
Oh, I didn't realize this was 5-man stuff. My bad! :)

For everyone comparing Quel'delar to it's sister sword, I would just like to make one point: one requires you to raid Onyxia, one requires you to do a quest chain. Furthermore, 'Delar is six iLevels higher than 25 man 'Serrar. I dunno about all of you, but given the choice between running Onyxia until I get lucky, or doing a long and involved quest chain, I would chose the latter every time.

No tanking sword makes me quite sad. I don't raid, so no Quel sword for me, I suppose.
ScorchHellfire Nov 11th 2009 9:58PM
So looks like boomkins, ele shamans, shadow priests and non DK tanks got screwed...
Redielin Nov 11th 2009 10:01PM
*sigh* mp5 on that mace means any healer or caster that doesn't like mp5 is stuck with crap. AND that's assuming you can find a respectable offhand.
I won't be doing this questline, unless absolutely necessary.
Fairlane Nov 12th 2009 1:13AM
Anybody who eschews that mace due to mp5 deserves to wield something less.
Jamie Nov 11th 2009 10:28PM
Quel'Serrar... Delar? whatever maybe, maybe, the tankings not for this you see, Quel'Delar, Delar...

When I was just a little raider
I asked my raid lead, what will I be
Will I be geared, will I be imba
Here's what she said to me.
Que Sera, Sera,
Whatever will be, will be
The loot's not ours, to see
Que Sera, Sera
What will drop, will drop
When I was young, I fell in love
I asked my raid lead what lies ahead
Will we have plate mp5 gear, day after day
Here's what my raid lead said
Que Sera, Sera,
Whatever will be, will be
The boss loot's not ours, to see
Que Sera, Sera
What will drop, will drop.
Now I have guildies of my own
They ask their raid lead, what will I be
Will I be uber, will I be leet
I tell them tenderly
Que Sera, Sera,
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours, to see
Que Sera, Sera
What will drop, will drop
/bow
/exit

*Gives standing ovation to Eli.*
Bravo! Bravo! Encore!

Do we even know how the chain starts? I'm fearing that it will require a rare drop, much like its predecessor did in Dire Maul. I can't picture Blizz wanting these to be as widespread as a Bronze Drake.
Turbo_ski Nov 11th 2009 10:31PM
first off, I can't help but laugh at anyone who thought this would be a tank weapon when Quel'serrar was and all the lore about this being a vengeful blade. Sorry tank fans, but vengeful blade translates to DPS weapon not tank weapon and as with legendary weapons, blizz wants to spread the lore love amongst all roles.
as for the weapons, 251ilvl is a pretty awesome deal for never having to set foot into ICC or any raid for that matter to get it. They also hit the majority of dps types with the weapons, but those that they don't hit they still provide suitable alternatives in the 5 mans at least (yes you can cry on my shoulder mut rogues :p ).
Transit Nov 11th 2009 10:50PM
I do not believe that tanks were looking for this to be an exclusive tanking weapon. But seeing that this weapon comes in many flavors, a tanking version would have been nice.
valisil Nov 11th 2009 10:52PM
Where is my slow dagger? I thought they said they were going to make the rewards useful to everyone? Whats the point of doing this quest as a tank, a mutilate rogue or any of the other class/specs that get left out? If they are going to spring for maces why not go the whole shabang?
LilBanshee Nov 12th 2009 8:30AM
'Slow dagger'? Daggers aren't supposed to be slow (regardless of whether it would be better for you if they were), that's what maces are for.
Dreadskull Nov 11th 2009 11:00PM
So there's going to be 1h and 2h versions, with the blade looking almost exactly the same...?
That's going to be weird, especially considering the size looks to be the same.
DK: "Look at me and my menacing 2-handed weapon!"
Caster: "Lol, learn to 1-hand wield it, noob."
