A 7-minute YouTube clip pieces together sound files mined from the latest build of Patch 3.3PTR. The sound files feature the Lich King delivering lines from Icecrown Citadel 5-man and raid dungeons, as well as the Shadowmourne quest line. These files are filled with spoilers, so readers who wish to keep everything a surprise should steer clear of continuing on. The video is embedded after the jump. Again, be warned that these files are full of spoilers!
Patch 3.3 is the last major patch of Wrath of the Lich King. With the new Icecrown Citadel 5-man dungeons and 10/25-man raid arriving soon, patch 3.3 will deal the final blow to Arthas. WoW.com's Guide to Patch 3.3 will keep you updated with all the latest patch news.
The following sound files come from the Halls of Reflection, Icecrown Citadel, and the Shadowmourne quest line. The video is tagged appropriately to describe where the sound files belong. Click on play only if you're ready for spoilers.
I'm most curious about the Shadowmourne audio bits. That's an awful lot of dialogue (or monologue, I suppose), and it all seemed to be focused on one player, not 10 or 25 people. Just how are we making Shadowmourne? Are we going to spend some one-on-one time with the Lich King, getting buddy buddy to get ourselves a sweet axe? From those lines, I almost expect the crafting of Shadowmourne to be a solo venture (although I'm sure necessary materials will require raiding).
I didn't really care about Shadowmourne much before (Enh shaman, not much use for me), but now I'd really like to know more about how it's going to be made.
I'm going to go ahead and guess that it probably whispers to you as you're making it and/or after you've finished making it, complete with these audio files , kind of like the old corrupted Ashbringer did. It simulates the idea that the weapon can potentially drive you insane as the Lich King tries to overpower you with it.
So.. Apparently the raid will bring a new "weapon" to fight off Arthas? Sounds like a new ally that was created to kill him but then what is with the Shadowmourne? Apparently its a new weapon but .. Blah I got real confused as to what is happening on the second half.
The light will abandon you hero, just as it did me, arthas gave up the light when he claimed frostmorne. a'dal said that the light doesn't abandon its champions it just shows how lost arthas really is.
@Alex: If you're talking about their use of the light as priests, then you're mixing up game mechanics with actual lore.
Blizz homogenized all priests (even forsaken priests) to make the game easier to balance. According to actual lore (don't quote me on this) but forsaken priests don't draw from the Light for their powers, but the 'Shadow'.
How about all those undead paladins in Icecrown? Were they not champions, or does A'dal have a really twisted definition of abandon?
How about the special brand of Hell that Sir Zeliek (one of the four horsemen) has to go through? Still retaining the mind he had in life, but in a body that he cannot control. Is that not abandonment?
Arthas isn't lost he is just too proud. I'm sure he'll realise his mistakes in the end like a normal tragic character though, but too late to do anything about it.
@Eli I believe if you read the beginning quests from priest trainers for the forsaken they explain how your character served the light in his/her prior life. However, with the chaos of undeath they have left serving the light. The "shadow' if you want to call it is how they perform their healing actions. If I'm not mistaken.
The "You too will know what its like to have a blade for a prison" during the shadowmourne stuff is freaking cool. I believe the LK is possibly saying how this "Shadowmourne" might trap the users/NPCs soul much like his is *possibly* within frostmourn.

Sounds like a very despairing cold storyline. Can't wait to experience this.

there are probably multiple sound files depending on whether you have shadowmourne et al. Similar to doing Karazhan with Atiesh equiped

The Forsaken would disagree with A'dal on that one. :P

It sounds like LK is speaking to your soul through Shadowmourne

Possibly? More like... definitely. To quote Varimathras "The blade you carry was crafted to steal souls. Yours was the first it claimed."
