A rare drop that is lower ilevel and comes from a boss with many excellent DPS weapons is *totally* comparable to Quel'delar.
Totally.

How does it hurt you for a tank sword to be added?
Let's look at the weapon progression list shall we?
Red Sword of Courage, Axes of the (racial) Protector - Level 200
Peacekeeper - 219 (or is it 200 I cannot remember)
Last Laugh, Titanguard - 226 (both from 25man bosses)
Quel'Serrar - 232 or 245 both of which are crap for their item level (see above critique)
The top three have to be raided for, you MIGHT see one if you are lucky.
DPS now gets a 251 item they can try for 7 times in a week so they'll likely get one eventually.
This makes sense how? Since most of you are raiding with Sword and Board tanks, please explain to me how this is going to be beneficial to you?
(for the record I also advocate strongly for a rogue Daggar QD reward, because unlike some myopic players I believe that EVERYONE should be included)

The reason sword an board tanks shouldn't get this sword is simple.
If you got it no-one would feel left out and post about it, so noone would be able to smugly boost their e-peen by pointlessly posting 'QQ-moar' or similar then said e-peen will shrivel up and die.
Where would we get our next generation of assholes?

I know a lot of tanks that don't have access to good 2-handers for their DPS spec. This is going to be one of the very few we can get easily. We can't always be tanking on every fight.
Your arguments about everyone not being a raid tank doesn't hold much water. Why would you need anything better than the ToC 5-man tanking sword if you're not raiding?

I am a raid tank.
And like many raid tanks it really annoys us when all the DPS you meet gets an upgrade that you don't have to raid for an we don't.
Let's break it down again, all Tank weapons over level 219 drop in raids. With the coming of QD and Icecrown 5 mans there will be many DPS weapons 226 and up. One might ask the DPS and healers as well, why do they need a 251 weapon if they aren't raiding? Oh wait, maybe they are or maybe they just want one.
Further, as to the "offspec" weapon fallacy, yes, it would be nice to have a 251 ret weapon, but I'd like to make the choice on which one to take. Like my friend who is a feral/resto druid, she's going to make a choice and either way it is win.
Yes, I do try to keep my offspec set in good condition, but it always takes a backseat to my tanking gear and it always will. Being forced to take a ret weapon in this instance feels forced and artificial.
As it is I will have to take the ret weapon because Blizzard said "screw you" to the tanks. My rogue will have to take the sword because Blizzard said "lol mutilate"

Zrob, I am sure you will be more than welcome to the several SnB tanking weapons available at each level of ICC's content if you feel you are so horribly disadvantaged by what will ultimately mean a few points of stamina and most likely worse itemization than the disturbingly-perfect Peacekeeper Blade. Unlike 2-handers, those will all face a glorious future as abyss crystals after you get yours.
