Mr. T promotes the Mohawk Grenade
Not only is the Mohawk Grenade real and in-game, but Mr. T put it there. That's what we learn in this new commercial, a sequel of sorts to the old "Night Elf Mohawk" joke a long while back. Not only is T (not The T, just T) decked out in a Murloco's Taco's T-shirt, but he shows the in-game item in action. It's how he makes the World of Warcraft look good.
I love it -- well done, Blizzard. Great kickoff to the holiday marketing season, and it's awesome that they've got the commercial (which we assume you'll soon see on television) promoting the actual in-game item in a quality way. Sure, The Old Republic and a few other MMOs might be knocking on WoW's door, but who wouldn't want to play a game where you can throw a grenade and make people look like Mr. T? Maybe this is where all those newbies will be coming from.
World of Warcraft: Cataclysm will destroy Azeroth as we know it. Nothing will be the same. In WoW.com's Guide to Cataclysm you can find out everything you need to know about WoW's third expansion. From Goblins and Worgens to Mastery and Guild changes, it's all there for your cataclysmic enjoyment.

I can't even imagine it if Chuck Norris were actually to make a WoW commercial...I think the world would explode.
zweitblom Nov 17th 2009 12:30AM
Probably because Norris would go and try to make Westfall secede from Stormwind.
Glaras Nov 16th 2009 4:24PM
Oh, yay. Another item that lets you alter another player's toon's appearance or behavior without their consent. Woot. Harmless enough, but really, I don't see the appeal, of the grenade or of the spokesman.
t0xic Nov 16th 2009 5:15PM
Roll a druid. A crotchety, nasty, and cantankerous druid.
catharsis80 Nov 16th 2009 5:40PM
Can't you feel the love (nerdrage) of those who like this? I sure can. Of course, it's never nerdrage when it's the majority, is it? /sigh
Jezza Nov 16th 2009 4:27PM
Hilarious!
I love it when a plan comes together
theminifig Nov 16th 2009 4:30PM
Oh why did they have to make them soulbound, and only able to carry five at once. :(
My little gnomish eyes saw $_$ Chaching! when they were all gone..
traptinacivicsi Nov 16th 2009 11:58PM
They aren't soulbound, just conjured, which is better/worse depending on who you ask.
delphinus87 Nov 27th 2009 8:41PM
yeah, they do that

OMG I watched it 3 times in a row! I lol'd each time! This is a winning prime time commercial for WoW! Even if they are not players seeing this add, they will well remember Mr. T as a night elf mowhawk! The game footage of T jumping in the air and tossing his grenade at the fleeing gnome is just a beautiful image that si making me laugh as I type this. Time to watch again!
Thundrcrackr Nov 16th 2009 5:09PM
Sigh...just as i'd about gotten my friends convinced to try WoW.
They will take one look at that commercial and say "Omg, srsly? a MOWHAWK GRENADE? IN THE GAME?? That's the gheyest thing i've ever seen. I thought you said this game was cool, not cool if you're TWELVE."
And i will just /face palm. I have no explanation for this. I love Mr. T as much as the next guy, but this tops the cheesy charts. Even for Blizzard.
At least they're doing something nice for the kiddies, i guess. 0.o
JC_Icefox Nov 16th 2009 5:35PM
Problem: your friends will relate Mr. T with something gay? Your friends are morons.
Solution:
1) Pity them.
2) Get better friends.
catharsis80 Nov 16th 2009 5:42PM
And you sound like you'd be a great friend, JC_Icefox. I mean, everyone likes people who call other people's friends morons.
Thundrcrackr Nov 16th 2009 5:45PM
Mr. T isn't the problem. Everyone loves Mr.T. But a "grenade" in a fantasy game that people can run around throwing on each other to make them look like a real life pop icon? That's kinda ghey. Even if it is Mr T. At least to someone on the outside. Sure, its a fun little inside joke type thing for the people who already play and love the game, but for people who are already kinda turned off by the cartoony graphics etc will just see this as one more reason not to play WoW and write it off as a "kiddie" game.
(cutaia) Nov 16th 2009 6:34PM
I see Thundr's point, though. The commercial isn't indicative of the actual game at all. It's a funny commercial to those of us who play the game already, but we're not the ones they need to sell WoW to.
swampsquatch Nov 16th 2009 7:24PM
Just because a game has "kiddie" graphics doesn't make it a "kiddie" game.
Conker's Bad Fur Day
Also, there ALREADY are bombs, grenades, missiles, and motorcycles in a "fantasy" game.
It sounds like you and your friends take the game WAY too seriously and don't just play it and enjoy it the way it is.
halophoenix Nov 16th 2009 8:51PM
No, sorry - I'm gonna back up the first reply. If your friends are the type to look at a commercial and whine about how "ghey" it is and talk about how they're so much cooler than anyone who would DEIGN to find it entertaining?
Yeah. You need better friends.
ZakuDoom Nov 16th 2009 9:39PM
Why is gay the universal insult? I mean seriously are we in junior high here? Anyway explosives have been in Warcraft for awhile its a generally accepted fact that the WC universe has a very steampunk flavor to it. That being said while I love the grenade I do find the marketing a bit...confusing. I'm not quite sure who they are trying to appeal to, I mean other then those of us who grew up watching A Team.
