World of Warcraft: The Magazine still coming later this year

Additionally, even if you haven't ordered a subscription yet (I haven't, actually, but I meant to), there will be previews of the issue online at some point. Or, on the other hand, if you're tired of waiting, you can contact them with support help and questions via email as well. But as far as we've heard, it's still coming before the end of the year, so keep an eye on your mailbox. It'll be a little different from some of the news you've seen online (it's completely official, which means everything in there is approved by Blizzard before it goes out, not to mention that they'll have some nice access in terms of news about upcoming content), but it definitely seems like it'll be an interesting read.

WoW.com is all the WoW magazine I will ever need.
Mike Schramm Nov 16th 2009 6:41PM
Aww thanks! I think the magazine and our site are doing two different things, so we're not asking you to choose or anything -- we'll be reading the mag when it comes out, too (and hopefully we'll be able to get some new info out of it even for people who aren't reading it). But it's nice that you read us anyway.

"It's supposed to have a feature on the WoW TCG, something about Inscription, and memories of the game for the 5th anniversary"
Sounds pretty boring, actually. If there's no exclusive news it's just going to be like every other wow magazine out there, just with a higher production value.

I did buy a subscription, and had completely forgot about it until now. At this rate I will have relocated by the time it gets sent out.

Ever since EGM went under I've resorted to reading random things like shampoo bottles while in the bathroom. This magazine can't come soon enough...

Considering how terrible the magazine industry is doing these days, it's very strange to me that Blizzard would consider this a good move. I really doubt they'll have the subscriber base to keep it going, especially without ads.
Jason Nov 16th 2009 6:22PM
Oh yeah... I forgot I bought that...
Moonkinmaniac Nov 16th 2009 6:25PM
I'm still wondering if it'll have any in game perks...some kind of special code or something. Though I suppose if it did they might have said so to get more people to buy it.

I ordered the magazine and I am not one to "pre-order" things. One of the reasons I went back to WoW after an extended hiatus (2.5 years) is that I wanted to play a game that offered additional ways to enjoy it: card games, good news sites (hi!), and merchandise, for example. The magazine fit the bill perfectly.
My only beef is that the official website is REALLY LACKING. Nonetheless, I can't wait to see what they do with this and hope they include informative content.
toxicityj Nov 16th 2009 7:32PM
Ehh just seems so pointless. I can come here, go to the official site, or check out another site for info. I guess little sneakpeek info is great, but the info will be reported on shortly after the magazine is mailed out.
Seems like a non-combat pet. Nice, but serves no purpose.

Personally, I wanna get the mag simply because its reading material, as much as I enjoy reading wow.com (and frantically refreshing the main page every 5 mins during ulduar/ToC/icecrown/cata. Etc. testing), its simply not the same as picking up a nice magazine, opening up and just flipping through.
They said the content will be somewhere around 140 pages I believe, and they also said it will be filled to the brims with exclusive artwork, interviews with the development teams about the current goings on in the world (of warcraft) as well as a sneak peak at things to come, along with what ever other features they decide to throw (stuff about the TCG, guide and strategys, competitions, freebies etc.)
Tbh that sounds like plenty of content for me, and well worth the price.
Not forgetting with all the artwork it could someday be quite the collector's item.

I had almost forgotten. Ordered back in august or whenever it came out, and I believe they charged for the year right away.
Good bathroom reading material is hard to come by!
Kinda secretly hoping they give some kind of in-game vanity item to subscribers too.

"A few readers have sent us notes asking what happened to their World of Warcraft: The Magazine subscription"
Why would they be asking wow.com instead of the company they purchased said subscriptions from?
DeadNite Nov 16th 2009 11:37PM
Same reason people ask them about other things that the WoW.com staff can only guess about or look up themselves.
Looking forward to the mag. Signed up as soon as you guys posted about it day of BlizzCon. I was actually wondering about this issue myself. Dug through my email yesterday to make sure I got the right address.
wrathsheep Nov 17th 2009 2:19AM
Exactly.
Cant wait till i get the first issue, hope there's more Cataclysm content :D
