WoW Moviewatch: Pally DPS Song
It could be hard to imagine that our favorite four-button face-smashing Retribution Paladins were once less than superstars. However, the long-lived among us remember that in vanilla WoW, Paladins were largely buff dispensers in dresses, armed with a couple heals and the super-sexy Tier 2 Judgement set. In memory of the Paladins of that bygone era, Greyfoo has written the Pally DPS Song.
Greyfoo's song definitely has a handful of chuckle-worthy moments. I have to admit that it really drummed up some nostalgia for me. And while my Paladin sure isn't rocking the Arena ladder, I still have to acknowledge that he's doing about a billion times better than he was in the original game.
I found Greyfoo's animation suited just fine to his song. The music is fun and low-key, but satisfying. I hope Greyfoo had a good time creating this video, and that he comes back around to do more.

I couldn't listen to more than 10 secs. of this movie. I'm sure somebody put time into making this—however EVERYTHING was off tempo. The vocals, drums, guitar were all playing to their own tempo.
horrible.

Yes! Exactly, everything just sounded chaotic and out of place...I honestly thought some audio-playing pop-up had shown up somewhere, it sounded like more than one song was playing.

I typically listen to only about 20 seconds of "WoW music" but this really caught my ear. Funny, well-done, even nostalgic. Hope to see more.

I liked it, hard to imagine in this "Everyone can do everything!! Everyone can achieve top dps if they're skilled... unless your a shadow priest" world of ours that there actually was a class that couldn't tank, heal or dps... s'crazy.

The tempo I could deal with, but there were serious tuning problems that made my hair stand on end.
BUT!
Having said that, yay to you, Gray. Excellent idea and video that makes me proud of having suffered through our long spec-ular nightmare to emerge into the Light once more.
January 2005:
WoW: (You have earned your first talent point!)
Me: Sweet! Let's see ... huh, why did they hide all the cool stuff on this last tab? (click)
Guildies: "No one wants a ret in a raid!"
Me: "It seems I'm the guild leader, so ... hahahaha tough!"
(Nope, never respecced once.)

Greyfoo is made of win, as an alliance-playing denzien of Doomhammer have to say he's the person you most wish to see in your Wintergrasp battle. He calls strats, we win. Also, the healer recruitment poster he made is so great, poke around a bit on plusheal.com and look for Relic's thread. Alamo-caliber hilarity.

I must admit, that's pretty funny. Reminds me of Jon Kovalic.

I'd really like to get more columns about the history of WoW, like that Patches of Yesteryear thing WoW.com only did the one time. I came in after Wrath started, so I only have anecdotal accounts of how class balance worked before, but I'm always fascinated to hear about how certain classes or specs used to be laughable.

At first I thought the song was going to break into a version of "Ordinary World" by Duran Duran.

"When mages tank and rouges can buff...and hunters even sometimes pass on stuff."

look up the World of Roguecraft on wowmovies.com, it will give you a great picture of what the game used to be like. infact all 3 of the roguecraft movies are great. the third one (focusing on warlocks) is extra sweet

Wow, that brought back old memories. I started playing in '06, back when Consecration was a Holy spec ability (that's right, you didn't get that AoE damaging spell unless you were Holy spec, once upon a time).
My first character was a paladin. They weren't at all the killing machines they are now, instead they were actually the opposite: unkillable machines. Sure, they're still great tanks today, but back then, they just didn't die. The trade-off, though, was indeed the fact that solo killing something only moderately difficult at equal level could take up to five minutes at times lol. But it was good times. :)

I thought it was... well, the term that keeps coming to mind, I don't know why, is "charming".
Quite poignant, and while the melody was a bit odd it was also complex and interesting. Overall I think it is a very good piece.
