Question for the Queue:I'm not a big lore-nerd, but why is it that the violet hold dungeon is filled with burning crusade style bosses? Most of the bosses in there are creatures we saw in Outlands and haven't seen at all in Northrend. Why is Violet Hold filled with prisoners from Outlands?

They have to go SOMEWHERE after a group of 80s ROFLstomps them.

Violet Hold is (and has been since before the city moved to Northrend) the prison of Dalaran, and as such is oriented to hold magically powerful people an beasts that would easily escape from any normal prison. It holds captured evil magic users and creatures that the mages of Dalaran summoned and then needed to keep someplace safe. For example, it was the place used to keep the Blood Elves when Garithos was trying to have them executed, and they had to fight a lot of random magical monsters while escaping. The only prisoner there that doesn't really make sense is the Arrakoa, since I don't see them being summoned by a mage or captured by the Kirin Tor. They could have been taken as a prisoner of war by some Outland group, and Violet Hold happened to be the only prison that could keep them.

Right, I understand that, but why is it we only see prisoners from outlands, aside from a few. You would think that if it was the prison of Dalaran we would see a whole bunch of different prisoners. I wasn't sure if there was any lore or reason as to why the majority of them are outland style creatures.

Sorry, I was unclear. Core hounds, voidwalkers, ethereals, revenants (which are new to Northrend, by the way), and beholders, everything there except the Arakkoa, are general magical baddies that you'll (canonically, at least) find all over the place. They happen to be something we associate with Outland because that's a nexus for arcane and demonic activity, so it's crawling with exactly the things Dalaran would be interested in.

Because the Northrend baddies are still at large - or else you'd have nothing to fight out there...
