Patch 3.3 PTR: Shadowmourne revealed

Notable among its features, aside from the ridiculous +223 Strength and 344.1 DPS, are three red sockets and an interesting proc. The sockets can combine for a total of 68 Strength when socketed with Bold Cardinal Rubies and obtaining the +8 Strength bonus. If we understand it correctly, the proc also stacks Strength for a total of 360 before firing off a damaging effect, presumably resetting the Strength bonus to 0. Needless to say, even without the proc, this Item Level 284 weapon is the best two-handed melee weapon in the game and should serve players well into the next expansion.
Patch 3.3 is the last major patch of Wrath of the Lich King. With the new Icecrown Citadel 5-man dungeons and 10/25-man raid arriving soon, patch 3.3 will deal the final blow to Arthas. Haters...

Indeed. Just checked how much Feral Attack Power that is to get a picture of the how much the DPS is, and it's over 4k. Sick. Time to go level my arms warrior!
zachary_matson Nov 18th 2009 8:45PM
Pally and Death knights. *Headpalm
Warriors ok im fine with that.
Byron Nov 19th 2009 6:07PM
Bah, it's clearly a DK weapon. Warriors, and Pallies especially, don't suck the souls out of their victims and then unleash that shadow energy in 'Chaos Bane'. It just doesn't get anymore DK than that.
Emzier Nov 18th 2009 8:49PM
They sure looked out for arms warriors with that amazing attack speed!
GrumblyStuff Nov 19th 2009 6:29AM
Although it'd be interesting if fury warriors can use this and Shadow's Edge....

I if I ever saw a hunter rocking this I would find out where he lives and then drive to his house just to slap. If he lives with his mom, I may end up slapping her too.

I play a hunter, and I will no doubt be doing the quest to get this axe. Not because I need it, but just because I like epic quests. But, I agree with the rest of the thoughts here. This axe is not for us. It will look good in my bank. :-)
wesleyshawn Nov 19th 2009 7:44AM
Forget my last post. I thought anyone could get this like a regular quest reward for completing the quest. Sucks. oh well...
Taytayflan Nov 18th 2009 8:47PM
Thank Ghostcrawler hunters can't claim it as a hunter weapon!
