WoW Moviewatch: Trev and Eroth: Desperate Measures
Giordano posted about Trev and Eroth: Desperate Measures over at Myndflame. This is just the trailer for the movie, but it has the benefit of mostly being made up from actual footage. The reason that's a big deal, if you don't already know, is that many machinima trailers use slices and snippets from in-game footage or other movies that are never actually repeated in the machinima itself. This technique is usually use to give the author a springboard into inspiration, and help them get their thoughts together.
I'm not quite sure what to make of Trev and Eroth. It's supposed to end up a four-piece story, which is pretty exciting when you consider the scope and intricacy of such a plot. Gnomes as antagonists are also a huge plus for the film. However, I just think it's way too early to lay any judgement on Giordano's work, since we've yet to see the final movie. Trailers can only go so far. The plot definitely seems viable, though, so I'm curious to see how it ends up.

To quote Homer Simpson
"Eh, what is this garbage".
Nothing against the community of machima, I am just not seeing much in the line of creativity anymore, it seems like every one is just spinning off the last.
I have some ideas for Machima of my own, just lack the team (and decent computer) to do them.

You need a team and a decent computer to do machinima? Why hasn't anyone told me these things! Here I've been making videos with a 7 year old computer and me doing everything but 2 of the voices.
Seriously though, if you want to make machinima just commit the time and do it. As long as you enjoyed making the film then it was worth it. Machinima, like any other fan made content, isn't about having the best looking effects or best plot, it's about having fun.
Sorry about the rant, just getting tired of a lot of talented people considering giving up after their first attempt just because they got some negative feedback. As for the video I'm looking forward the full project, it has a lot of potential.

What software do I need for Machima? I have the story ideas (and a wow account). I have video editing software. I just need the software to capture the shots (Fraps?) and I wonder how they make the other shots that are wow related but not from the live game... some modeler? Can I get some links?

I use model viewer (http://www.wowmodelviewer.org/) and I know a lot of machinimasts use map viewer too. My computer can't handle map viewer though. As for recording I use Fraps but I know some people that use WeGame's game recorder. Also, Oxhorn has some great machinima tutorials at wegame.com.
Hope this helps :)

Well this chap just took Real-world events and ripped the piss out of them. Nothing origonal, and nothing terribly exciting.
Sure the chap has so raw machinima talent, however the plot-line and reasons behind events were ultimately awful.
This chap isn't the most intelligent.
Hopefully he'll learn.

Not a big fan of the linking of Barack Obama to communism in the trailer.

No matter how well or poorly this video ends up, the creators will automatically turn a lot of people against it as a result of their apparent political views. IMHO WoW machinima is not really the best medium for these sorts of statements, regardless of what they are.
The trailer was well done, and appeared to have a nicely thought out storyline, however I would think that alienating a segment of your potential audience for no reason is not a good way to get people to "buy what your selling" so to speak.
