One Boss Leaves: Loken shockwaves Gal'darah

Returning underdog Loken showed why he was among the fighters readers voted back into the season, downing Gal'darah this week in the Two Bosses Thunderdome. Fifty-eight percent of the vote went to the Dark Titan from the Halls of Lightning. Gal'darah brought in some positive comments but ultimately lacked the votes to carry him through.
Elovan: Gal'darah could easily shift to rhino form and simply Impale Loken anytime he tries to use his novas. That plus his insane whirlwind could take down Loken pretty easily imho
catharsis80: Don't forget Enrage, enabling him to attack 125% faster than Loken does, and considering the article says they have "comparative overall damage output"... Yeah, I think the results are quite obvious, since Gal can interrupt and Loken can't. PLUS, Pulsing Shockwave will do practically nothing to Gal, since he'll be all over Loken like white on rice.
Nolls74: This, plus Gal has his rhino buddies who will charge Loken and knock him around like a rag doll. All of you picking Loken have no sense of style and are only judging it based on "Loken sucks for players; he must be the ultimate boss."

Gal'darah calls up his homies in Gundrak. After the traditional troll greetings of much smoking, communicating with the animal spirits, the munchies and laughing at some foolish troll getting mauled in the arena, Gal'darah trots out his rhinos. "Yo brah, check it out ... New tesla coil system on my rhinos. Slaves installed it dis morning," the high priest beams.
"Sweet horn ornament. Is dat real Vrykul leather onda ivory?" asks Slad'ran.
"It's Titan! Da best vrykul leather you can git! Wasn' too hard. Jus' get in da face, work fast, falls right to yoo."
Based on lore and geek fandom ...
Loken sits on his electric heated throne, reading the latest praises from Wow.com. He yawns, scratches his nose and barely considers his latest conquest or who his next opponent will be, knowing a drooling mob will carry him far.

It's unfair.
fearthefireblade Nov 19th 2009 11:17AM
Agreed. At least show a modicum of respect for the winner. Not one sentence was praise for Loken or his sexy, motor-cycle-rider-esque beard.
I love WoW.com, but I cannot stand by and watch this bias go unanswered. Give the winner his due.

Yeah I know, Loken's like, 4 times his size. It's not even really a fight.
Cobalt Nov 19th 2009 11:29AM
Not to mention that Loken can be really super powerful when he's near Yogg-Saron. He one-shot Thorim and his proto-drake mount in that one questline, and he's just a 5-man boss!
Bedessa Nov 19th 2009 11:23AM
Seriously. I have never died becuz of Loken, he's a bitch. And I'm a Holy Pally, that's right. Learn to play people. Impale is nasty, and if I recall, Loken lost to Anub's Impale last time, why is a more powerful impale not gonna whoop him?
Larg Of Sargeras Nov 19th 2009 11:41AM
This fight cares very little about what YOU can do against the boss, sir. It doesn't care that you, as a holy paladin, have an easier time with Loken then Gal'darah. What this fight cares about is who would win, Gal'darah or Loken, and letting them fight with their abilities in a realistic sense. Loken is like, 4 times Gal's size, What good is impale going to do to a GIANT? Impale's a big threat against players, because we're small, but guess what? That horn of his? It's not BIGGER THEN LOKEN'S FOOT.

I believe the rules state that you should pretend they are comparable in power, health pools, damage output, etc... therefore you can either a) assume size is comparable, or b) that it doesn't matter because it's a level playing field. This is all about style points. The Prime Designate doesn't even know what style is, he is wearing the same thing he's been wearing for millenia. Gal not only has an enrage ability, which not only beats the pants off of Loken's nova, he has a similar ability which it has been established, LOKEN HAS ALREADY LOST TO. We must follow logic here people. And stylistically, Gal' sacrificed a GOD to get his powers. So the God-killer can't kill a god's pet?

Yay, another demonstration of the power of the majority and popularity over logic. Ah well. Looking forward to the next one.

Explain to me the logic of a Gal'darah victory. Please. I want to know why a Rhino Avatar would be able to kill the Prime Designate.
Johan Forn Nov 19th 2009 11:44AM
I don't see the logic in pretending 'impale' kills a metal structure.
catharsis80 Nov 19th 2009 11:52AM
Go back and read all the pages of arguments for Gal. Prime Designate or no, read the actual attacks and strategies that each do. I don't care if Loken was a demi-god and Gal was a mouse -- if they have the same tactics that they do now, Gal would win.
OR, you could read my quote in this article itself. I have no desire to defend Gal again. Loken won against all sense; you should be happy.

"I don't see the logic in pretending 'impale' kills a metal structure."
And I don't see how insects like us can take our toothpick weapons and down this guy:

So, what's your point?

One of the requirements listed for the 'Boss vs boss' matches is that you use a certain amount of logic to determine the effectiveness of the attacks against each other.

@Johan Forn
"One of the requirements listed for the 'Boss vs boss' matches is that you use a certain amount of logic to determine the effectiveness of the attacks against each other."
Um, of course? Which is exactly what we all did on the original article. Also, could you please scroll up and actually read THIS article? All the logic was reposted right there for you to read to your heart's content.

But again, people were sitting there saying that impale would interrupt the nova.
IT WON'T!!! NOTHING interrupts that Nova. So he slams against Loken and wastes the Impale as Loken finishes his Nova.
Far too many of those strategies depending on this move, and I don't see it happening.
Larg Of Sargeras Nov 19th 2009 11:49AM
But Johan, he's got whirlwind! He can spin really fast and loken...well, he moves away from it like everyone else does.
catharsis80 Nov 19th 2009 12:14PM
Not when he's impaled.
Rexton Nov 19th 2009 12:59PM
Funny, I thought he only used whirlwind when in humanoid form.
Ametrine Nov 19th 2009 11:51AM
I've never died to Loken... basic tank-n-spank, heal through the shockwaves, dead-and-buried.
Twice I've died to Gal'darah, when his Impale nailed either a healer or tank.
I demand a recount of votes.
Johan Forn Nov 19th 2009 11:57AM
It's not about how you fair against any one of them. It concerns only boss vs boss.
Seeing as Loken is a giant motorbike-mofo made out of metal, how exactly are tiny impales going to kill him? There are no organs to damage..
