OK, I just started a hunter, and I'm quite enjoying him. I'm still figuring out the class though, so I'm going to ask a newb question: why is MM the only spec that cares about ArPen? Coming from my main, an Enh shaman, for whom ArPen is an annoying and wasted stat, I don't have much experience caring about it, but I don't quite see why it's only desirable for one spec.

Ignore it, by the time you will be level 80 in full epic Tier10 I guess Armor Penetration will be gone or so (Cataclysm) ;-). Anyway there is no gear with ArPen until 80.

Good question alpha5099: It has to do with how and what type of damage you get with your attacks.Since ArPen only works on physical damage and Marks hunters do more straight physical damage it really benefits them more. Also, ArPen doesen't transfer to your pet. So you wouldn't see any benefit for BM. As for Survival, there might be some point that it would make sense, but I couldn't really see it happening. Mostly because Survival is a spec that relies more on proc damage from their Explosive Shots than pure physical attacks. Hope this helps answer your question.
