Around Azeroth: Float on
Neophyte warrior Meryl of Aman'Thul has a story to tell. While waiting for a three-hour tour from Booty Bay to Ratchet, Meryl glitched out, force-quit the game, and ended up in a no man's land underneath Arathi Highlands. "Arathi!? How bizarre!" she writes "But it doesn't end there. So I resurrect just outside Hammerfall, fearful for my life at the hand of its fearsome guards ... and find that there aren't any. The only mobs around are ... wait ... are those Savannah Prowlers? Why is the game telling me I've discovered Ratchet? Why did that lion fall from the heavens?" In this particular picture, Meryl is about to be crushed by a falling Barrens meteorite, transplanted from across the sea by the magic of glitchery.
Do you have any unusual, beautiful or interesting World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We'd love to see them on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@gmail.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. Please include the word "Azeroth" in your post so it does not get swept into the spam bin. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing -- use alt-Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards, Val'kyr on mounts, or pictures of the Ninja Turtles in Dalaran. Older screenshots can be found here.

Did anyone else think of Modest Mouse's "Float On" after reading the title?
Jeremy Nov 22nd 2009 11:57AM
So I happen to be listening to episode 56 of the Smodcast podcast and that son was playing in the background... then I click on the comments of this post.
I found a lot more of those types of glitches in Outland, usually in Blade's Edge Mountain.

It was the first thing that sprung to mind and I just so happen to be listening to them now.

No, I thought of Float On by The Floaters.
FireStar Nov 23rd 2009 10:16AM
I totally thought of that song. I was actually coming here to leave a comment of the music video:

I have to wonder what Copper Ore is doing floating in Arathi Highlands.

So this is how the Cataclysm starts.

Not sure if this is a real glitch or not, because off the way they talk about it in a pseudo story narrative. I am always interested in strange glitches and bugs in the game like this, but if your going to RP and tell a story at least include some more technical info as well after.
You always take up 2 entire paragraphs just to tell us how to submit our own screen shots, and that's always longer then whatever story you (or the submitter) may of made up. why not put the extra effort in and include an extra paragraph just to detail a bit about how this glitch may of happened, clarify just how much you may bee joking ext...

Indeed, I always hate that about these articles. They just seem lazy. One tiny little excuse for a paragraph and then a submission explanation longer than the post itself.

Maybe because its an article about screenshots? Not really a need to go on forever about it. I like the little witty paragraph. A picture is worth a thousand words afterall.

This happened to me before. I got booted on the boat from BB, and when I logged back in, I fell through weird open space and landed in Arathi, and immediately died from fall damage. It put me in the graveyard, where my body was, so I just rezzed. I ran up the where the Hammerall FP should have been, just to realize there were no NPCs. So I logged out.
Upon logging back in, I took another great fall, and landed in the Ratchet GY. I spirit rezzed, just in case, and there I was. The most confused warlock in Ratchet.
In other words, never try the rum in Booty Bay.

So that's where that cooper vein went! Years ago now when I was but a wee little rogue I was just south of Ratchet when I went to mine a copper vein. I took a whack and fell, through the world, into the abyss, no force quit here, I died and much the same revived outside hammerfall. I then traveled south, amid floating barrens wildlife. Through the Wetlands, Dun Algaz happens to line up with Bael Modan by the way, it was full of floating dwarves. All the way to Ironforge, though according to my chat channels, which still worked normally, I was in Thousand Needles. I had a bit of a conversation with some people in that zone, took pictures of the empty IF and... well I forget how I got out, I dunno if I logged in and out and it fixed or if I died and revived.
Anyway, point is, I'd bet money that's the same copper vein that started it all!

The same happened to me some months ago. But i got Thunder Bluff's NPCs on Hillsbrad Foothills. Here is a video of it:

This same thing happened to me a year or so ago, and my friend went to Arathi Highlands and opened a portal, I went to under Theramore :D It was funny, but I kept dying over and over, falling right under the spirit Healer, and then my ghost kept dying too :S. I had to log to come back to the ground, and my repair costs were terrible. All in all, funny at first, and then really annoying. And yes, it's true.

Alright, already
We'll all float on and
If things get heavy

This is the famous "otherworld" bug.
It's googleable, and findable on youtube as well as an exploit/botting/exporation community about owned MMOs.
Basically, if you board a transport (say from Orgrimmar to Warsong Hold) for a time the game still believes you are in Kalimdor, so you can fly to somewhere (Silverbrook in I think grizzly hills is popular, as that place corresponds to Hyjal) mount up, flying high in the sky, force disconnect a few times (using a macro is easiest) and you end up flying just below the ground in Hyjal. Fly along for a bit, then fly upwards into it.
I would imagine that what happened here was someone took a boat from Kalimdor to Booty Bay, but fell off or soemthing (which sometimes happens) and the boat in Booty Bay glitched, sending the rider to Hammerfall in Arathi Highlands (it's happened once or twice to me). The submitter then forced disconnect, making the game think it was in Kalimdor, when in fact it was in eastern Kingdoms experiencing the otherworld bug.
