We are getting multiple tips that some realms are down. Blizzard says that the Whirlwind and Emberstorm battlegroups are down and that they are currently investigating the matter. We'll keep you posted should anything change.
In the meantime, enter to win some real life and in-game loot. Or log on to Zangarmarsh and join the WoW.com guild so you can party with us on Wednesday night.

Update 1:16am: Zarhym says the problems were due to a complete power failure. The power is back on and they are trying to bring the realms up now. The party is still raging on Zangarmarsh.
Update 11:37pm: They have discovered the source of the battlegroup issues, but still no estimate for when they will be back up. We're having an impromptu party on Zangarmarsh if you would like to join us.
Update 11:12pm: I was just able to login. No word yet on the down battlegroups.
Update 10:56pm: An official response: they are working on it.
Update 10:49pm: Many, including me, are having connection issues. There is a huge forum post on the issue, but no blue response yet.

Bleeding Hollow is down too. So Battlegroup Ruin is affected then too.

I'm literally 50 yards away from finishing my pilgrim meta and getting the turkey. I just need to wander over to Thunder Bluff and sit at the table, and that's it. And tomorrow I work all day (and I assume there's maintenance anyway), and Wednesday to Sunday, I'm visiting family for the holiday. Tonight was supposed to be me getting the turkey.
So, I'm sad.

it's down, but im downloading something in the Blizzard Background Downloader called
"WoW-3.2.2.10505-to-3.3.0-enUS-patch"...
umm.... does that mean im downloading patch 3.3.0 ??

Yeah, that's fucking helpful. Copying your own teams post saying they don't know what the hell is going on. That'll make people calm down..

I play on Lightbringer (Whirlwind). After the servers went down, I couldn't log back in. I tried editing config.wtf and removing the default server from in there (I just deleted the line with "Lightbringer" in it, for me) and the server let me back in. I don't know if that might help others get back on. Oh well, I've been wanting to try out the Horde side. It gives me some time to work on leveling me troll hunter.

i'm on jubei'thos, oceanic, and i was unable to connect too... but it seems to have resolved itself now, so i dont know if it was just me or what...

Same thing happened to me on Bronzebeard. Inexplicably, no one in my guild (or my poor, abandoned Arena partner) experienced the same problem.
I researched the problem and found a few threads on the official forums, one offering a (temporary and obviously jury-rigged) solution: change the "realmlist" variable in config.wtf to the server IP.
Aside from an incredible coincidence, the edit allowed me to log back in after 5-10 minutes of that error message.

I am in a different battlegroup for both my servers (Ysera and Uldaman) and can't log in at all. Though I DO live in Seattle...doubt that coincidence is related however.

for those of you having connection issues, try logging in with incorrect info and then logging in with the real account info, It worked for me and a few others on the forums when i posted that's how i got in.
