"One catch: arrows require Gnomish engineering, and the bullets require Goblin engineering."Why? That doesn't make sense. If I carry a bow and win a gun upgrade I have to decide whether I want to get raped at the AH for ammo or not? I'm on a low pop server where everything costs way too much. Gnomish/Goblin has been trivial in this expansion. Why now? Will you be able to get Ashen Verdict rep without raiding? I don't currently raid on my hunter. Just curious.

It's apparently a raid-only rep. Back in the day, you'd have to raid Hyjal to get the top TBC ammo, so this is better for the non-raiders, although prices will be crazy until a critical mass of engineers is in Icecrown and the prices drop.

For the hunters that aren't engineers, nothing really changes, except that only certain people will be able to make the right ammo for you. Shadow and earth are horrendously plentiful from saronite veins, cost should be a pittance. For the raiding hunters that are engineers, the hope becomes that the ranged weapons are exact stat clones of each other, and that the correct weapon drops for your abilities. I think splitting ammo by specilization is a bad idea, it makes things more diffulcult for players, I think if they go ahead with this they need a way to trade from one to the other like they did with the Thorium rounds back in vanilla.

If the post is correct and arrows only cost crystallized earth or shadow...then the bullets will probably cost less than the blue counterparts. I have way too much eternal stuff that can easily be brought back to 10 crystallized earth or shadow...all that is needed is an engineer who will make the mats, tip them however much I feel like at the time, and move on. There won't be some horrendous price at the AH if you just take the time to gather the mats and find your friendly neighborhood engineer with the recipe. Of course, we will have to wait for the engineers to get into said raid on our servers. Guess hunter dps will have to wait for upgrades until several weeks of raiding and engineers get the recipes. Would be nice if Blizz stopped hindering us from having to wait on engineers to get things, and just allow us to work on the rep to get it.
