World of WarCrafts: The littlest Murloc

And you thought we were done with Halloween references! We simply couldn't resist wrapping up the season with this latecomer: a young Murloc from the family of Tyrialfrozen of US Ursin. The little gurgler's mother adapted the costume from a Wal-Mart baby tiger costume pattern. Her instructions, as channeled through Tyrialfrozen:
"Follow the pattern for the body. There wasn't anything special, just good old sewing machine and scissors. The same was done to make the main part of the head. Next was the blue and white stripes, which were sewed directly on the head. For the red hair/spikes, she cut out long strips and soaked them in half-and-half water/glue and then cut up the bottom. They were then sewn into the head through small cuts.
"The eyes were ping-pong balls that got cut in half and painted. In order to get them on the head, she had to hot glue them to some string, which then was sewn on. Next, she added some white fleece teeth, and to cover everything up, she put in a red fleece layer in the head. In order to close the front, she added some Velcro. Last was some red trim and 'feet' and a zipper."
We've got a full gallery showing the construction process as well as the finished product (and something extra), after the break.
You awaken in Razor Hill
Last week's look at storyteller Tazeria of Korialstrasz stirred up enthusiasm for another, more interactive tale that's turned into a favorite on Blizzard's Uldum realm forum. "You awaken in Razor Hill" by Dusk of Uldum wound forum-goers into a MUD-style adventure. Blizzard CMs extended the thread to accommodate additional posts, and the whole thing received a big, fat sticky after it wrapped.
Author Dusk, aka Alex Levinton, has two articles on Cracked.com and says he's halfway through a project he hopes to sell. "It is a boy and his dog story, only the boy is a girl and the dog is seven feet tall," he relates. "It's an escapist fantasy about causality and the end of the world." If their end is as satisfying as that of Ted and Scratch, future readers have an interesting read ahead.

The murloc seems exhausted after swallowing that toddler.

I don't like babies, but I love baby murlocs.

That thread deserves more than a little plug at the end. It needs its own fricking article and a 15 minutes of fame about it.

Ah, whatever, it's not a big deal.
I won't pretend I'm not disappointed to be sort of stuffed under a break, but hey, what can you do?
The kid's adorable.

Razor Hill deserves its own post, but oh well. I haven't played WoW in ages, and came across that thread by accident. I was so impressed I downloaded a trial client and started a character on Uldum trying to say thanks all of your hard work but the trials are so handcuffed that I couldn't post or send mail or whisper (Blizzard crits you for one stalker).
Anyway, since I can't post on the forums, I'll express my gratitude here. That was one of the best things I've read in years, and I write and read for a living. I passed it along to my friends and co-workers, even those uninitiated in WoW lore, and they had a blast. Of course, it really resonated with those who have been there before.
Stay focused and knock out your project. Thousands of tools are published every year, you actually deserve to be. I look forward to reading it.

I for one am pretty outraged that something pretty awesome as dusk's post, gets added at the end of "LOOK AT THIS BABY DRESSED AS SOMETHIGN OMG"
Pretty much the only people that may have even seen the amazing piece of written material, is people who like babies, or people who like murlocs.
This piece is a must read for anyone who enjoys wow.
My life is complete though, that i have seen a baby in a murloc costume...over a great piece of literature
Pucelle Nov 24th 2009 2:32PM
Oh, quite right! A dated parody of Zork is astonishing literature, worthy of being hailed down the mossy centuries as a paragon of its time - at least, to the kind of gibbering mind that thinks that one can find the ne plus ultra of culture in Family Guy and Rob Schneider's fine body of work.
Sir, I salute you for making the human race a few billion brain cells stupider. And to the original author: congratulations for whinging at the same literary standard as the rest of your 'art'.
Dusk Nov 24th 2009 5:14PM
the post above this one is exactly why I didn't want anyone starting any fuss over this, I'd really rather not have people getting the wrong idea about the story or the people who contributed to it, or all of the hard work that went into it.
To 'Pucelle', I am sorry you did not enjoy the story.
I don't believe your comments were necessary, but thank you for the criticism.
