Gilneas flag revealed

As seen in the photo above, featured in Kotaku's 5 Years of WoW article, the flag looks ... a lot like the Quake III logo, upside down. But, of course, it also looks a lot like a clawed hand, which makes sense. And it's also a red and yellow circle on a black background, which is the classic worgen eye color scheme. It's worth noting that this isn't the same design as the Warcraft II Gilneas flag, but that makes sense given how much change the kingdom has experienced.
Looks pretty neat. Hopefully we get a full crest like every other faction gets, too. The blood elf and draenei crests were so cool that it'd be a shame if these new races didn't get one. We're counting on you, Samwise.
And while we're on the subject, it's just about time for you to update the official Cataclysm site, isn't it, Blizzard?
World of Warcraft: Cataclysm will destroy Azeroth as we know it. Nothing will be the same. In WoW.com's Guide to Cataclysm you can find out everything you need to know about WoW's third expansion. From Goblins and Worgens to Mastery and Guild changes, it's all there for your cataclysmic enjoyment.Filed under: Cataclysm

WTB more goblin information, Blizz.
We don't even know who their racial leader is. (Well, it'll probably be "Trade Prince _____").

....haha......the flag looks like 'hot spring' map sign in Japan/Korea.

Ahah! Yes, exactly! I knew that symbol looked familiar but I couldn't place it. xD That'd be it!
Zinx Nov 24th 2009 2:28PM
In Korea, the symbol also refers to Love Hotels. Something tells me it will change when this gets out since Korea is a big market for Blizzard

Goblin flag should be:
$$$
Fripomanic Nov 24th 2009 11:20AM
With lots of bombs and explosions as the background. And maybe lasers!

If they have a flag at all (time is money, friend, so who wants to spend the time to think of one?) it's something like a tattered, smoky sock that landed on a fencepost after their latest invention was tested.
Blackhorn Nov 24th 2009 10:02AM
Toronto Raptors, anyone?
Soroks Nov 24th 2009 10:04AM
Hmmm I thought Samwise was working on Starcraft 2 as Art Director?

After rewatching the Blizzcon trailer for Cataclysm I noticed you can see this flag (though the colours aren't the same) during the Worgen introduction at 2:31-2:33

This flag looks like the symbol the Japanese use for onsen, the hybrid public bath/hot springs that are all over the country.

Deadly. Off. Topic. Nov 24th 2009 11:20AM
I like it.
artifex Nov 24th 2009 11:31AM
That's not very realistic, is it?
Flags need to be something that's not only easy to recognize, but easy to reproduce. That's why the best flags are simple designs, like stars and bars and circles. Shading and glowing are a bit hard to reproduce.

we play a game where you can throw lightning at people and turn them into sheep...and you care about realism?
