This would be awesome, this is something ive been saying forever, just that they should make it an optional content DL. since lots of ppl play wow specifically bc of its low end requirements.

Honestly after playing 3 human females (Paly, DK, Priest) over the last 2 1/2 years, I'll be insanely pissed off if they go and force-update the models. Two and a half years-- My avatars are who they are. I don't want to have to re-customize a character I've spent that long around. Their hair, their faces, this is who they are.
I'm all over it for re-rolls and new alts, but please, Blizz, don't screw with the characters I already have and love.

Seconded.
Also, are those the Worgen models for Cataclysm?
They are very very very VERY superior to all Vanilla AND BC models. Even Blood Elves look like crap compared to those guys.
They look like taken from another game. It would be cool if Blizz updated the Vanilla and BC character models, and gave the option to turn on/off the "classic" models for nostalgics and people with low end pc's.

Change? In my Warcraft? RAAAWWWRR.
No, these models definitely need an update. Nothing drastic, just more polygons to smooth out the blockyness.

@Colin,
They need more than just more polygons. They need models that don't don't glitch out--like the way trolls, male orcs, female tauren, and male humans do in particular. Aside from desperately needing help with aesthetics (making the human males run naturally, for example), they need help with just basic stuff, like shoulders not rotating at unnatural angles during certain movements.
They also need MORE faces - I mean, female trolls have like... 4? and all but 1 are hideous.
Don't sell it short. I don't care how many people love their ugly avatars, Blizzard needs to update the game after 5 years. They can always let people keep their old-world models.

I would definitely love to see new models for each race. But, I think the idea of giving people the option to use the current ones or new ones, if implemented, is a wonderful way to go. It pleases everyone and that just seems like win/win.
Also, I'd be so ecstatic if they'd offer us a color palette for our hair. Rather than offering us a handful of hair colors, they could just offer us a large palette that we could scroll over. This would give us endless colors and shades, and I think many people would love having more options in that way.

I really think their hesitation over players being dissatisfied with their character's new looks is really simple to deal with. Just give an automatic, free character customisation option to all members of a race as their models are updated. BAM. No one can cry that they don't like their character's new face, because they get to reselect it.

Faulken is getting downrated for saying he's fine with other people updating their toons as long as he gets to keep his the same? Sometimes wowinsider ratings make me wonder.
