Honestly by the graphical standards of the game now, many of the races (I'm looking at you orcs and humans) are downright unplayable. Bring this on!

Agreed."Outrage" over losing old models and textures, in Sam Didier's opinion? Unlikely, especially if Blizzard's artists capture the charm of the originals and excise the limitations of old tech. I don't think many players of night elf male characters are attached to the cork-puller look.Blizz: we love vrykul, tuskarr, tunaka, and punk rock goblins! Put two and two together.

I remembered the new new face models they tried in the beta for Wraith, but it met with a riot. And why? Because they were horrible. And this doesn't include the bugs which had the eyes coming through the eyelids. Ugh.Unless they do a really nice job with smoothing the images over, I really hope they let us pick the next round of faces. I would hate to wake up one day and find out that my paladin's face, one that I came to know and love, has been gimpified and that I would have to PAY to change it. She has the determined look to her eyes now, but in beta when they tried to add new skins, she came out looking ditzy and scatterbrained. I don't want to go through that crap again.

Are you kidding? I mean, I'm for updating the models 100%, but you can't be serious that outrage is unlikely. When's the last time you visited the official forums? :)

I don't see how this would be so difficult to implement, either; just let everyone get a free character redesign when they install Cataclysm. You can't change your race or gender or class, but you get to cycle through all the appearance options again. As long as they don't do a really, really terrible job on the new faces, it would be an improvement. I've been playing a Blood Elf female since BC, and I forgot how bad the other races look. I went to start an Alliance toon on another server, and was planning on a Night Elf or Gnome because those were the first characters I ever created. I ended up making a Draenei instead, because she wasn't terribly pixelized. I'm notorious in my guild for having alts that are all Tauren (glitches are sorta ignorable when you're covered in hair) or Blood Elves on my main server, because the graphics for the other races' females are so bad.
