WoW Moviewatch: Achievement Wh0re
Achievement Wh0re is a new song by Gigi and Nation. (Nation was once Abandonation, but I'm not sure if the label change is purposeful, or just a hip contraction.) The video was created by WoPairs, who shows an excellent eye for character portraiture in this piece.
The song is dedicated to those who seek out achievements to the cost of all else. I'm not much of an achievement guy, so I found the send-up of it to be pretty amusing. I guess I see how some folks are really into them, but achievements feel like one really long grind to me.
Notably, this piece is an entirely original song. And while I always feel out of my depth evaluating rap, I definitely salute Gigi and Nation for expanding in that direction. It's fantastic to see the pair growing as artists, and creating new art in the musical belf-o-sphere. I'm interested in seeing what they might do next, if this video's success encourages them to keep creating new stuff.

I actually liked it. While I'm not for auto-tune, it was okay in this song. I hope Nation will actually sing for real if he plans on singing in any other songs. Even if it is not that great I'd rather that over a computerized version.
Props to them on doing what they love.
To all the people saying Gigi ruined it, maybe give some constructive critcism? Not trying to be rude or offend anyone and I'm not even sure if she comes to this site, but I know for a fact if this was me I wouldn't be feeling too good about reading a bunch of comments about how I ruin songs with no advice on how to not ruin them. I realize it's people's opinions, but as an artist myself, I know for a fact that critiques can go a long way and help people improve if they actually listen (or read in this case) to the advice. Going by her comments on her YouTube, I know she can take criticism well. :) Just my two cents.
I thought she was fairly good in this one. She needs practice, but it seems she has improved greatly.
Nation, as always, was good. I'm not too big on rap, but I have an open mind when listening to it and have been trying to get into the non-mainstream side of the genre, but I like what I hear from him whether it's related to WoW or not.

I love that gigi still managed to go off key even WITH autotune...

I am an achievement guy, and I don't find this song to be particularly harsh. Honestly, other than the word "whore," I'm not even sure it's really a send-up so much as it is a song about a particular sort of player. Most achievement whores I know, including the top one on Silver Hand, are people who would be doing all that stuff anyway.
It's the folks much lower in the rankings who are doing stuff solely for the achievements -- they wouldn't attend Raid X or do Battleground Y if it weren't for the points, for instance.
Anyway, I liked the video, especially the machinima aspects of it.

I hate Gigi. I also hate rap and all of that, but I can't help but love how complex this sub-sub-sub-subsubsubculture of WoW related PVP rap is.
Aaaand I kinda love all the parts of this song that don't involve a certain hunter.

Really liked the whole video and song but wishing I hadn't read the comments. Don't like to see all these 'critics' blasting someone who probably has more talent in their small toe than they will ever have. Granted Gigis' vocals aren't world class but it doesn't take away from the fact that it takes a high level of artistic talent to put something like this out. Really don't see why people actually "hate" her because its not some Mariah Carey stuff. I really hope they both continue to make these videos because I for one love to see them.

Please for the love of God let Rap go in peace!

Oh God.. Gigi, nothing against you but you should just leave the whole "WoW parodies/songs" alone. I heard you have a bit of a hand for machinima so you could work on that.
I enjoyed the song untill Gigi started siging, I always mute that part and unmute it when it's over with. Bah, it makes Belves look stupid, the whole meme of over-used Blood elves in music videos filled with disgusting music. I race-changed to a Tauren female, happy?
