It came from the Blog: Battleground Bonanza
I love Battlegrounds. I think they all have their positives, though my favorite is still Alterac Valley. So I've been wanting to hold an It came from the Blog BG event for a while and I've decided it's time... Time for the first Battleground Bonanza! Here are the details:
More details are after the break.
If you haven't logged into the guild for a month or so, you may find that you have been kicked from the guild. We had a huge influx of members last week and because the Guild Roster is buggy over 500 members, I've gone through and kicked all but the most recent players. So, if you find yourself guildless, please re-join. You are more than welcome. If it bothers you to have to ask to rejoin before every event, just login regularly to keep yourself active.
I know that this is a common raid night, but we will be having a Saturday event soon if you can't make this one. Near future plans include a Hogger raid and some Feast of Winter Veil fun.
If you have any other questions about the guild, please see our It came from the Blog FAQ.
- When: Wednesday, December 2, 11:00pm EST (8:00pm PST, 9:00pm Server time)
- Where: The Hall of the Brave (where the Battlemasters are), Orgrimmar, Zangarmarsh U.S.
- Who: Any level 10 or above Horde character.
- How: Ask any It came from the Blog Lurker or Robinella for a guild invite.
- What: Battleground premades

"Though any Battleground level character is invited, I will be playing on Robinella, who is a level 60 Death Knight and will therefore be playing in the 60 to 69 range BGs."
Does this look like a "kick me" sign to anyone else? =)
Just saying...

Bring it! ... It will keep the queues shorter. :)
Vandersveldt Nov 30th 2009 8:46PM
Look..... it's not a premade if you're 60. Not going to say anything negative about the choices here, just that it's NOT a premade.
Robin Torres Nov 30th 2009 9:34PM
Vandersveldt, if you enter a BG with all or most of the team from the same group, it is a premade. You see, because the team is formed (made) before (pre) the Battleground. It doesn't necessarily mean it will be pro or even successful, but it is the definition of a premade.
I have been in a premade before where the "strategy" was to "have fun" -- which was decidedly not fun for me. It was not successful, but it was, in fact, a premade.

Hi, I'm Vandersvelt, and I don't understand the words that come out of my mouth :)

What battlegroup is that in? If it's mine, I might have to queue up to kill some ICFTBers. All in good fun, of course. :D

Bring it! ... see above. :)

Question: Will the Hogger raid be with lv1 Ally toons or will you all be Lock summoning/making the long walk from Orgrimar?
Just wondering since you normaly only do things Horde side (not QQing, I know it was a coin flip), and Hogger is in a rather inconvenient location for Horde players.
Ether way I'm interested in participating, but I'd be even more interested if it was with Allies.
Robin Torres Nov 30th 2009 6:32PM
It will be with Horde guildies of all levels. Details will come later. And we'll make the run together. Summoning is for sissies.
Protect the lowbies!

Thanks for the reply, and I look forward to learning more details. Seems like it'd be fun and an easy thing to jump in with a lv1 on.
Dreyja Nov 30th 2009 6:26PM
/sigh - I still wish you all would do this with an alli guild someday. :-p I understand why not though. I'm not trolling I promise.
BGs w/ a real group would be so much more fun. :) keep it up darlin's

I am almost tempted to move my Orc level 66 hunter there for this...

Sorry to break it to ya, but AV is for the noobs.
The more pro you get the more you dig WSG, because there you can actually make a difference rather than being just a face in a 40 person crowd.
kunukia Nov 30th 2009 6:53PM
I love Alterac Valley also. Some of us love a big scrum.
Robin Torres Nov 30th 2009 6:56PM
@Lemons Are you one of those guys that just fight on the road or Field of Strife in AV? Because I can tell you that individuals definitely can and do make a difference. Whether it's claiming a mine, capping a tower or taking back undefended objectives -- players can do a lot alone in AV. Forming groups and suggesting strategies are often done by individuals as well.
And I just love riding past the Aid Station, keeping all those Allies busy and then seeing someone cap the graveyard while I die for the cause. Go me!

AV is for the noobs? Do you even know what you're talking about?
Lemons Nov 30th 2009 9:15PM
Yea, you can take one tower or defend one point. One out of dozens of points. the fact remains that an individual player simply doesn't have the same sort of control over an AV that one can have over a smaller battleground like WSG.
All I'm saying is that generally the people who like AV are not so much noobs, more like newbs. They've just started to PvP, they like having a lot of people around to back them up, and they like the fact they can sit in the back of a crowd and spam frostbolts. Also there isn't so much PvP involved in AV. You can easily run from the cave to drek and not encounter a single opponent (I often do when I don't feel like fighting).
But I notice the more geared and more skilled played become the more they gravitate to smaller battlegrounds where they can make more of a difference. I've had many friends who's favortie BG was AV when they were just starting out, but after a while it becomes WSG or AB.
And no...I'm not the guy in Field of Strife, I spend most of my AV games defending towers.

im usually the guy who gathers a group to defend galv in our battlegroup... 90% of the times i can manage to get 15 players to defend galv, allys get completely destroyed, even if we all die defending (sometimes happens), thats 15 players that i know that are willing to go for the towers recapp, believe me, you can make a lot of a difference in av.

I did some research a month or two ago to see which servers were moderate population AND in the Boston datacenter (it's geographically closer to me) to have lower latency. Zangarmarsh was the overall winner it seemed. However, I rolled a Draenei up until about 11 and then quit. Maybe I'll level a Hordie to meet up with you all. Thing is, I'm already Horde on my PvP server, so if I picked another server, I'd like to switch it up and go Ally.
