Tuesday Morning Post: Stuffed edition

Anyway, Thanksgiving aside, there's still plenty of other news to be had from around the WoW-o-sphere. As of this writing, there's still no word on a downtime, but chances are it's coming, and even if not, hey, Tuesday's as good a time as any to catch up on the latest news, right? If anything, you're probably still taking it slow at work while you finish recovering from all that turkey. Here's our usual roundup of the past 7 days or so:

A post on the Service Status forums late last nite listed 'select' realms that would be down for maintenance today from 3a to 11a PST.

Yea, you got lied to... My server is still up. Oh well, next week!

Let me confirm no patch 3.3 today. Only a portion of the servers are down for maintenance. I am assuming it is safe to say they wouldn't roll out 3.3 20 servers at a time. Of course, my server is one of the few that are down.

I'm assuming that I can still complete the Pilgrim Achievement if all I have left to do is kill the boss in Sethekk Halls with the Pilgrim items on. I got everything else done, just didn't get to Outland in time to do it.
*The Duke replies, "Well Pilgrim, get to it!"*

I didn't see anything on that achievement implying that it had to be done during the event, so it should work since you have the necessary items for it.
I, on the other hand, look to be waiting another year to finish because I accidentally grabbed a pair of the shoes rather than another Turkey Shooter. I put in a ticket, but since it took 4 days to get a response, a GM basically told me I was out of luck and that he wouldn't trade the items out since the event was over. I kindly pointed out that the event still had a day to go when I originally opened the ticket, but it's yet to be answered (might see a response by Thursday of this week, HA). I'm an undead rogue short of a title and pet, heh.

We've only had one partial download of 450 MBs...I would think from previous major patches there's at least one more of that size or bigger.
Then the usual small one on patch day.
So 3.3 is still a ways away by my way of thinking.

So Daniel, what part of the achievement did you get hung up on?
I saw most vitriol flung towards the Turkinator achievement. Other than that, pining for the elusive dwarf/orc rogue was heard.
I think most people's problems with Turkinator were in their approach. Racing through a zone as fast as they could, killing turkeys at max range, etc etc. During peak hours, no less.
My latest level 80, a priest, was able to get Turkinator on the first attempt, and held the buff throughout the entire farming session of 125 turkeys. Little unknown tidbit: The 40 turkey buffs stays with you if you continue to kill turkeys, and when you get to 80 the big Turkinator buff thingy goes off again (basically for each additional 40 turkeys killed).
Yeah. This is a tortoise and the hare case. Obviously if you're competing with 90 other players even at 3am there will be trouble. But I found people would shoot themselves in the foot trying to get this achievement. You have 30 seconds between kills to find your next turkey. Despite that, bloodthirsty savages would tear through a place as fast and as furiously as they could. They'd run out of turkeys because they killed them too fast and they weren't repopping in time to fuel the turkinator bloodlust. Go slowly! If you see another turkey, walk up to it, even if you're a caster, and melee it. Heck, don't even kill it unless you see your next target already.
I killed 125 in a row, with time to loot each one, this way.
Oh, another tip for next year: They are beasts, not critters, so anything you can do to get their attention without killing them will have them pecking at you instead of running away. Keep one of the buggers at your side to fill in a gap.

Pretty clever. You should remind people of this strategy next year.

I was actually all ready to take on the Turkinator, the problem was that I never got the chance to sit down at a computer capable of playing WoW long enough, since I was out of town visiting the family.
Next year, I'm totally remembering your strat though.

Whoo! I have at least one more week to finish "Proof of Demise." :D
