Congrats to our Creative headset winners

And if you didn't win, don't worry -- Creative will of course be selling the headsets, so you can make sure to put them on your Christmas list, and maybe a loved one will help you out. The latest that we've heard is that they're still due out for release sometime this month, so stay tuned and when we know more about the release, you will too. Since our 25-man contest was actually a bit of a trivia contest as well (guilds had to find five locations in-game and then take pictures at each place), we've put the Rusty Blades' excellent answers after the break. Hopefully you haven't been wondering desperately about the answers for the last month but in case you were, there you go.
Here's our questions:
1:
Pose your team in front of something that's older than dirt:
The relic in Wintergrasp (try not to get hurt).
2:
Kill the orc who used to hold in his hand
that old instance key quest called Blackhand's Command.
3:
The game that Blizzard had to finally decline:
Go and find the secret Nova's shrine.
4:
This old dog has got a new plan of attack:
Shadowfang Keep was only a setback.
5:
Heroes and monsters frozen by a terrible spell,
Forever to stand where Thorim's hammer fell.
And their answers:
1. It's the Titan Relic you have to capture in Wintergrasp, inside the innermost room of the fortress
2. It's the Scarshield Quartermaster in Blackrock Spire, close to the entrance to UBRS. The Blackhand's Command was necessary to get attuned to BWL.
3. There's a hidden shrine in Netherstorm, Outlands. You can only reach it via a flying mount. It's a reference to NOVA, the lead character of the Starcraft Ghost game that got cancelled in development.
4. This is a reference to Arugal. Formerly (and still currently?) the end boss of Shadowfang Keep, he's also to be found on an island off the coast of Grizzly Hills, in spirit form.
5. Thunderfall, in Storm Peaks.
Sounds good to us. Congrats again!

That's my guild, and my Chompy!!!
Thanks so much, WoW.com, for this opportunity. I can't wait to get my headset! :D

Congratulations!
I won one of the individual random contests, so I'm anxiously awaiting my headset as well.

I shed a tear for StarCraft: Ghost's vaporware state.
catharsis80 Dec 3rd 2009 7:44PM
Well, not really, but boy, did I look forward to that game.
Atdt1991 Dec 3rd 2009 11:42PM
But they're -horrible- looking. HAL from 2001 superglued to your mom's hair dryer. Seriously, I wouldn't be caught dead wearing it.
Congrats to the people with the free loot - any headset is better than no headset at all.
In related news, Wow Insider, I read you every day. I trust much of what you have to say, but this: "And if you didn't win, don't worry -- Creative will of course be selling the headsets, so you can make sure to put them on your Christmas list, and maybe a loved one will help you out. "
... that's sucking up. Thanks to creative for the contest gear and all, but come ON.

Gratz all winners. Too bad the rest of the world was barred from this competition :(

/pout ... noone ever pays me in gum (or creative headsets)
bushkanaka86 Dec 4th 2009 10:15AM
Is it just me or does it look like there aren't actually 25 people in their screen shots? I thought the whole raid had to go to each location. Especially the Thunderfall screen shot. It looks like no more than 15 in that shot.
If anyone knows the GM's ebay account, you should watch for some spare headphones to pop up from him.
Boz Dec 4th 2009 11:01AM
Maybe I'm just a sore loser, but there's no actual relic in that Wintergrasp photo (the big sphere that appears during the actual Battle).
Our guild worked it's ass off to get the actual relic in that shot during a Horde-controlled Wintergrasp battle as Alliance.
Grats anyway to the winners.
Boz Dec 4th 2009 11:07AM
In case you're wondering, the Relic looks like this: http://ui10.gamespot.com/1961/wowscrnshot112409225808.jpg
Emerald Dec 4th 2009 1:39PM
Yeah, we fought like hell to get our screenshot with the actual titan relic. Looks like these guys waltzed in there after a little VoA and threw up a smokescreen which apparently served to fool some people. The numbers issue is a valid point as well. Why declare these parameters only to completely disregard them in choosing a winner? Might as well eat some alphabet soup, sneeze on your desk, and armory whatever comes up. New headsets for Lesthrase!
Shade Dec 4th 2009 2:13PM
@Emerald - I know on my server anyway, it is...nigh impossible to take a photo of that relic thing, because we win all the freaking time. So it's never really up. The best my guild could do was take a screenshot of where the relic was at, along with the busted out wall behind it - kind of annoying, but frequently found on servers with lopsided populations.
The thing that bothers me, and I guess I'm not the only one that feels this way, is that there is pretty obviously people missing from those screenshots - the one at Thunderfall has maybe 12-13 people, that's it. As someone that managed to wrangle 25 people from location to location (which was fun, mind you, and a nice break from raiding Trial of the Grand Round Roomâ„¢) in an effort to follow the rules, it's sort of disappointing to see that the winners don't even have the full amount of people required in the screenshots.
Boz Dec 4th 2009 2:35PM
@Shade: Please see my linked screenshot above. It is not only possible, but fairly easy on any server of any population with a 25-man raid group prior to the start of any Wintergrasp battle regardless of faction.
---------------------
You know what? I'm going to be a jerk about this. Many people put a lot of time and effort into this, and it's BS that invalid entries were not only considered, but won the contest.
The winners for the 25-man Creative Headset giveaway posted on 12/04/2009 on WoW.com are, in fact, invalid based on the criteria given in the official rules. Please take immediate and appropriate action to either:
1) Provide correct, valid, complete, and timestamped (due to the passage of the submission date) entries from the winning party or
2) Issue a retraction and conduct another random drawing among the remaining qualifying submissions in accordance with the original published contest rules and regulations.
The criteria the winning entry screenshots failed to meet includes:
1) "What your guild/raid will need to do is a) get your guild or raid together, all 25 members. And then b) go and find all the places and take screenshots of your guild there (you can hit "Print Screen" to save a screenshot, and it shows up in the "Screenshots" folder of your WoW install)." (from original post) Twenty-five raid members are not visible in multiple screenshots, in particular the image at Thunderfall but in others, as well.
2) "Only entries with the correct screenshots will be included in the random drawing." According to the winner announcement, the correct screenshot for 1. was: "It's the Titan Relic you have to capture in Wintergrasp, inside the innermost room of the fortress" The Titan Relic is not visible in this image.
Mike Schramm Dec 4th 2009 3:01PM
The winning guild did send us a screenshot with the relic included, but they sent us a few screenshots of each place (the guildleader wanted to be cautious and make sure he had done it right), and this one was the better picture.
The point of this post is not to pout or question the winners that we chose (which, despite your worries, were chosen according to the rules of the contest, which I personally set out and worked on a long time with our legal team -- I know them well). If you didn't win, I'm sorry -- 25 headsets is a big giveaway, but obviously it's not one for every single one of our readers. There will be other contests.
I'm sorry you didn't win, and I'm glad your guild worked hard together on this contest -- maybe it will help you in future endeavors. But these are the winners and that's the way the world is.
Boz Dec 4th 2009 3:26PM
Not here to pout; I appreciate the explanation.
Cheers.

They really do read my mail. =) Thanks for the update guys.
I really hope they come out soon. Dec 5th is my birthday and this is what Ill be blowing the birthday dough on.
Im still trying to discover a way to get them to work with an ipod (or various other mp3 player)
I hope they release a non-usb edition or at least include the adapter like other brands often do.
SCGM Dec 4th 2009 11:47AM
Is there a reason WoW.com chose winners that didn't meet the contest requirements?
They have 15 (being generous here) in their Thunderfall screenshot. Directly from the rules: "What your guild/raid will need to do is a) get your guild or raid together, all 25 members. And then b) go and find all the places and take screenshots of your guild there..."
Their Wintergrasp screenshot is missing the actual answer to the riddle, which would be the relic that doesn't appear behind them. Would screenshots in Netherstorm have counted for the NOVA riddle? I mean, hey, it's close enough to the riddle answer, who cares that it's not actually by the shrine.
SCGM Dec 4th 2009 12:07PM
On closer look, the WG screenshot (the one without the answer to the riddle present) may be the closest they get to having 25 bodies in any of the screenshots.
