Well, I guess "big" is in the eye of the beholder, but for the fairly easy task of starting a
Twitter account (if you don't already have one) and following
@Warcraft, you could win a myriad of WoW TCG loot card codes. Ever wanted an Ethereal Plunderer, a Spectral Tiger, a Magic Rooster, or any of the other super-rare vanity items? Now would be a good time to take part in that whole social networking thing. You could even follow
the official WoW.com Twitter account too if you're so inclined.
Blizzard has already selected a ton of winners, and
the contest runs until December 11th, 2009, so you've still get plenty of time to win. Official rules are
here.
It looks like
Blizzard learned something from their last contest, since the prizes seem to be handed out immediately upon them choosing a winner. Of course, I suppose it's easier to get digital codes to people than t-shirts, but I also don't think it takes two months to mail a t-shirt. Either way, if you win
this one, you get pretty much instant gratification. The best kind of gratification.

"Of course, I suppose it's easier to get digital codes to people than t-shirts"
Indeed. Hasn't stopped them from limiting it to the US and Canada, though. I see no sense in it - WoW.com runs Loot code competitions all the time, and they're open everyone, regardless of location, so what's stopping Blizzard from doing the same.

OK I have never twittered.
So I registered, it says I am following Warcraft, is that all I have to do?
Frank Dec 4th 2009 3:50PM
yep. easy as that.
Tori Dec 4th 2009 3:25PM
Dammit...
Now I'm going to make a Twitter account even though I've avoided it like the plague. -_- Oh well, not like I'll use it for anything after this. :P But I can't miss a chance to win some stuff.
jimbob Dec 4th 2009 3:45PM
I feel your pain :S
Starsmore Dec 4th 2009 3:26PM
Yes, they've been saying for the last few days that all you need to do is be following them.
Of course, your chances of winning are somewhere in the realm of 0.001% - 0.002%, depending on how many people are following @WOW at any given moment.
I'd love to see numbers from Twitter of how many new logins were created that just follow @WoW. Same thing happened with the loot competition over on wowtcgloot.com. The masses just zerg in, ruining everyone's chance of winning.

I personally HATE twitter!
Tori Dec 4th 2009 3:39PM
Same here, the whole thing seems incredibly pointless to me. -_- Ugh, I feel dirty having an account now...
Frank Dec 4th 2009 3:51PM
don't hate the game, hate the players. : P

Twitter is as useful as the people you follow. It's a wonderful source for off-beat news items, like WoW news and fan news for other projects (like Joss Whedon news, for me). A lot of people exclaim that Twitter is useless, and then you look at the list of who they follow and there's no one on it. -_-
It's CERTAINLY more useful than WoW though. Calling Twitter useless on a WoW site is pretty hilarious.

never used twitter before, don't really understand it. Let's see if I win something :D
Jack Spicer Dec 4th 2009 3:31PM
Okay, I started to follow them, but the fact that I have to read the tweets - let's just hope I don't win and the prize goes to waste.
Rich Dec 4th 2009 3:42PM
How about some more contests not on the social network fads? Maybe someplace like, gee I dunno, your main site?
Luthielle Dec 4th 2009 3:49PM
Also, for twitter users/vanity pet fans, @warcraftpets is great to follow, too! They started doing loot card giveaways just recently; I won a Picnic Basket from them this morning! I also enjoy their tweets, usually fun surveys about mini pets and such :3

Frank Dec 4th 2009 3:52PM

I refuse to participate until they rephrase "The prizing rolled over".
