Worgen starting zone preview from Scrolls of Lore

What's not explained (so far, likely because no one's able to get that far yet) are how the night elves play into the whole worgen "thing" as shown in the Cataclysm trailer, but there's still a lot of new information on phasing, quests, and scenery in Gilneas besides what we've already covered, as well as accompanying photos. It's definitely worth a read.
Hopefully Blizzard will continue to fill in more blanks in the worgen storyline as we get closer to the expansion's release, or maybe even update the Cataclysm site more than once every four months. In the meantime we can rely on sites like Scrolls of Lore to give us exhaustive previews of public demos like this one.
Thanks, Nostra!

With phasing I guess its safe to say you won't be able to take an low lvl alt of another race to lvl in their starting zone? Bummer, but yay for cool worgens!

I don't have the best of track records in regard to SoL and WoW.com, and I'm not trying to start any fights here. What I said in the past about you not linking to us, forget it. I'm not angry.
I'm just curious. Are people ACTIVELY reading Scrolls of Lore now? That's a big much to swallow.

Oh noes, its the internet, sharing information, run!

Our first shot of a Worgen Female (albeit in human form).
Surprise, surprise, she has a huge bust!
Omacron Dec 4th 2009 7:26PM
She's using the regular human model. >.> Her chest probably just looks bigger because the textures on her clothes are much better, and maybe give the illusion of a bigger chest (the same effect happens with Jaina's new model).

Unless I'm very much mistaken there's a worgen female in wolfoid (yes, we can make wolfoids) form in the Blizz-released Cataclysm trailer from Blizzcon.

They really need to update the Cataclysm site.
Super Guest Man 9000 Dec 4th 2009 8:18PM
I think we broke their site....
Warlock Dec 4th 2009 8:21PM
Possibly :) My host says the server is up, just that HTTP is down on it at the moment :P They usually fix this stuff pretty fast though, so I don't imagine it will be down for too long.
Warlock Dec 4th 2009 8:22PM
Ha! And as I post that, it comes back up :P

I... I want that female NPC's hat for my gnome. Ye gods.
alpha5099 Dec 4th 2009 10:40PM
God I hope all those NPCs with hats indicate that they're fixing how hair and helms interact. A lot of my characters have long hair, and it always looks really weird how they suddenly seem bald when they're wearing something. Almost all my characters have helm graphics turned off because I don't like how they look.

Also, can we please see some non-concept art for Worgen females? I'd really like to see them in action.
Possum Dec 5th 2009 1:09AM
The female concept art looks very foxy and cute, the PC worgen just overall don't seem very savage. It's like Blizzard tried to make the "darker" race for the alliance but then based their characters off disney films, judging by the males manes they paid special attention to the Lion King..
I still like them and will definatly roll one but if this is Blizz trying to give the alliance a more savage edge I think it'll be about as successful as introducing DKs to solve the tank shortage.

The Worgen and the Nelfs are really old friends. The horribly long quest line starts with "The Howling Vale" and will answer each and every question why they are together. It's one of the good old epic across the world and back (several times) quests. I refuse to be the spoiler, but it's dripping with ewwwwwee lore goodness!
MalevolentSparkle Dec 5th 2009 7:13AM
Ill think you will find that the Gillian Worgen are NOT the Worgen that were summoned by the night elves to help in Felwood but rather the worgen that the mage from Dalaran summoned (archmage Arugal) to help fight against the scourge and later ended up in shadowfang keep
Ebylon Dec 5th 2009 3:29AM
That walkthrough was "fantastic"?
Camreth Dec 5th 2009 10:12AM
Can't wait until Cataclysm, Worgen warrior and Goblin rogue ftw^^
Durgrum Dec 5th 2009 12:57PM
Ahh, but if you continue on the quest line you find it was all started by the summons, Arugal would have never known about the Worgen or the the means to bring them here. The Gnomes can not be blamed for this one....and that makes me sad :P

Is that a screenshot of the worgen starting zone?
Wow.. It looks amazing, I'm impressed
Can't wait to play a worgen now, exploring those dark streets looks fun :)
Also can't wait to see how the rest of the old worlds zones are going to look... I'm looking forward to seeing them after seeing how good the worgen and goblin zones currently look
