In case anyone didn't know swag is an acronym. It means Stuff We All Get. It's the free crap people get when they go to conventions and conferences, and promptly throw away or give to coworkers. o_o

Swag comes from a lot further back than you think, and "stuff we all get" is actually a "backronym", or a phrase constructed after the fact to make an existing word or words into an acronym.
Swag
–noun
1. Slang.: a. plunder; booty.
b. money; valuables.
Etymology of this term most likely stems from a middle-English use of the word 'swag' often in pirate circles or other criminal circles as a euphamism for loot or plunder.
