Scheduled downtime for December 8th, 2009

Maintenance is scheduled to start at 1 AM PST/4 AM EST and end at 11 AM PST/2 PM EST. Given that this is a patch day, it's likely that maintenance will be extended at least once, likely several times, meaning your forays into Icecrown might end up a little later than you expect. Just remember that this is the big one, the one we've been waiting for, and that you can wait a little bit longer.
In the meantime, brush up on what's coming with Patch 3.3 in our big ol' guide.
Patch 3.3 is the last major patch of Wrath of the Lich King. With the new Icecrown Citadel 5-man dungeons and 10/25-man raid arriving soon, patch 3.3 will deal the final blow to Arthas. WoW.com's Guide to Patch 3.3 will keep you updated with all the latest patch news.Filed under: Realm News, Patches, Realm Status

Do you know, will it be able to track quests you've already done before the patch happened? Because that would be totally awesome.
Randy* Dec 9th 2009 11:47AM
Then be prepared for awesome, friend. This was the first thing I did, after I got my corehound pup out of the mail.
Download and install (from wowinterface) the addon EveryQuest. Also, it helps to have Lightheaded because of the wow(dot)com comments. (You can click a quest giver's name and get the coordinates.)
When you open your quest log, there is an EQ button at top left. Click it. It opens a quest list. At the bottom is the "Options" button. Click that.
Now look for the "Query Server" entry in the list on the left. I think that's how it reads. You'll then see a red button in the pane on the right that says "Query Server." Click that. You get a message in your chat window that it downloaded the list and is ready to populate. Now click the red "Populate" button. You might get a red message saying that there were some unidentified quests. No biggy.
At this point, you may want to close and reopen the list from the quest log again. You will see quests, by zone. Green ones are done. White ones are not. The number to the left is the quest level. Click one and you get a Lightheaded window with the notes.
Last night, I finished up the last 24 quests I needed for Loremaster Eastern Kingdoms in a couple of hours. Turns out the Undead opening quests were enough with some left over, but I had never thought of that, and I was racking my brain on where to go next.
I know this is a lot of information, but if you read it slowly, maybe even print it off to refer to while you do the steps, it's very easy. I'll start tonight on the 300-some I have left in Kalimdor!
On, and EQ can also import information from a couple of other popular quest tracking addons.
I'm finding that "awesome" has taken on a whole new meaning. You can respond here if you have more questions. Good Luck.

Server downtime is C&C: Red Alert time.
That isn't ALL bad.
PvtDeth Dec 7th 2009 10:44PM
Oh, man, that brings back some memories. I used to really be something at Red Alert 2. Thought I was going to be some kind of killer PvP master. Then I started playing Warcraft III. Won my first match, and NEVER won another.
Long story short, I have only ever been good at PvP in one game. Good thing my new favorite game doesn't include any PvP...

This is not the big one we've all been waiting for. We've been waiting to kill The Lich King and that's not happening because of Blizzard wanting to wait to drop this expansion's final boss because it won't be until late next year that we get Cataclysm. This whole "gating" is a way to set back top server guilds, and pacify yet again the casual gamers that can't down crap.
Tyr Dec 7th 2009 11:11PM
If it doesn't get gated, there'll be months of boredom for the top guilds who would have already cleared it all, just like with ToC. I've seen more than enough whining on that subject.
Rob Dec 7th 2009 11:30PM
Okay, how long over the estimate will they really be down? I think 6pm EST.
Anyone else?
FifthDream Dec 7th 2009 11:48PM
I'd say that's about when there'll be nice chunk of playable time, with a restart or two starting at about 8pm EST, and a mostly playable night at starting about 11pm. There will be a few short periods of downtime during the week, and a few hours of downtime Friday morning, and a restart Monday. Then it will be pretty much business as usual.
But my entry into the pool is "11pm EST".

So when can i actually start downloading the patch? Should i stay up and make brownies or dream about them?
lozonw Dec 8th 2009 2:02AM
the patch is already downloaded or should have been by last week its just waiting lurking in the background waiting to strike...
Ice Dec 8th 2009 3:46AM
Can anyone could confirm did the ulduar drakes got removed yet? I would be very pleased if someone who got inside live servers soon(tm) would reply me. Thanks in advance. (Im in EU so our patch comes tommorow and I dont know what time is in US, you prolly still got maintance but yeah)
KenMan Dec 8th 2009 4:00AM
The Ulduar Drakes probably won't be removed until Arthas is added in, because then any Arthas related achievements for Glory to the Icecrown Raider 10/25 will finally be able to be done thus rewarding the frost wyrms for them.

shameless self-promotion :
I've made a realm-status application some months ago, still in developpement (i'm adding a search widget with the data coming from warcraftrealms.com, and some fixes & features here and there). You can get it at :

For the curious, source code included.
NOTE : No, it does not contains any virus and / or any undesireable thing like trojan and whatsnot. "qt-apps.org" check for malicious content.
sankto Dec 8th 2009 11:10AM
oh yea, and i took the time to update it today. Enjoy !
bIlZbUb Dec 8th 2009 11:56AM
guess you were wrong.. just waiting for servers to go back up now. stupid pacific standard time. :\
Jessica Dec 8th 2009 2:09PM
We are performing extended maintenance while we resolve some additional issues. We do not have an estimate on when the realms will be available for play but we will provide another update in approximately 1 hour. Thank you for your patience.
chase Dec 8th 2009 2:19PM
GFG! of course they would extend it, cause they fail.
joshua Dec 8th 2009 6:10PM
Blizzard had prepped this patch for deployment and now running into bugs? We all pay for this and still cant have it tested and prepped before deployment plus 12 hours of maintenance? RIP OFF.
Slick666 Dec 8th 2009 6:00PM
6:00 pm EST (-5:00). All servers still down on the US side as far as I know. Might as well pop on a movie while you wait, just go to bed or something to pass the time. It probably will not be done until late tonight considering this always happens with Blizzard.
