Blizzard and how they deal with ninjas

So what does all this mean? We've heard in the past that Blizzard will occasionally help with ninjas, and we've even heard unofficially that if you get the main looter in a PuG raid to state the looting conditions ahead of time, Blizzard can go back, look that up, and then reward loot based on who really deserves it. But of course, all of that is unofficial, and there are so many variations and issues in situations like these that there can't really be a hard and fast rule -- sometimes Blizzard can help, sometimes they can't.
So basically, the one hard and fast rule that we've got is to watch your own back -- make sure the rules are clearly stated, and only go raiding with people you trust. Blizzard will probably help when they can, but from GM to GM, their policies (and the way they feel that day -- that seems to be what it boils down to sometimes) will likely differ. Ninjas happen -- as long as there's less loot to go around than people in the raid, they always will. And it's important to remember that even if you do get some loot stolen from you, and even if Blizzard doesn't help, there'll always be another instance to conquer and another drop to get.

Too bad for posting this today, I bet no one from Blizz will ever read this.
Janaa Dec 8th 2009 9:02PM
Nobody from Blizzard will read it? Hardly anyone will read it at all now that servers are up. ;)

I'm making a small experiment on reverse psychology and human reactions.
Please down rate this post.
Janaa Dec 8th 2009 10:58PM
How'd the experiment go?
swimstarguy Dec 8th 2009 11:05PM
Lore, I wasn't sure if I should upvote or down vote. Very clever. Very clever...
I would like to award you an internet for it but I will reverse psychology myself and not.
loreaddict Dec 8th 2009 11:06PM
Just as planned.

Loreaddict - But you can say that very well after the fact if you don't explain your testing protocol. It all depends on your hypothesis. Here's a range of very different hypotheses which could all be considered "TRUE" even though conflicting with eachother.
Possible Hypothesis #1: Everyone will be nice and vote me down if I ask politely for them to do so. PROVEN TRUE.
Possible Hypothesis #2: Because I've said it's a test of "Reverse psychology", people will know I expect them to vote me up, and thus vote me down in order to prove me wrong. PROVEN TRUE.
Possible Hypothesis #3: If I post useless crap to wow.com, people will vote me down. PROVEN TRUE.
So which was it? :) Some people may have voted you down in accordance with any of those three.
I voted you up because I misread your original statement and thought it said "please don't vote me down." So there's another possibility..
Possible Hypothesis #4: People will misread this statement, thinking I've asked them not to vote me down, and thus maliciously vote me down. PROVEN TRUE.
Claiming your experiment was true when the reasons are so numerous, isn't exactly rigorous scientific study. ;)

Is your experiment invalidated if I click the report button?
peon47 Dec 9th 2009 1:10AM
@Loreaddict
I voted you sideways.
loreaddict Dec 9th 2009 9:17AM
Janaa, I belive Hypothesis #3 was the most fundamental to the result, and this Hypothesis applies to any other kind of post here in wow.com
loreaddict Dec 9th 2009 9:21AM
Tomorrow I will continue with the second experiment, and we'll see which Hypothesis holds better.
Deadly. Off. Topic. Dec 9th 2009 9:56AM
The way I read it was:
Lets see if they vote me up because I told them to vote me down. You know, the spite issue and people not doing what they're told... just cuz.
That's how I saw it and that's how I voted.
Mr. Tastix Dec 10th 2009 10:59PM
YOU DIDN'T DO AS HE SAID! AMIGAD.
Ramzor Dec 8th 2009 8:21PM
I was surprised by the title. Since when does blizzard deal with ninjas ??
Procrastinator Dec 8th 2009 8:21PM
Next patch: courts of law!
Dewayne Dec 8th 2009 8:27PM
actually if they didn't cater to the hardcores then they'd make all raids 10 mans and they would add a whole lot more 5 mans for the people that really don't like to raid as much. Which my answer is not because I don't have the gear to do some of the good raids I just choose not to deal with wankerheads who act like they are a big deal because they have more pixels on their characters designed as colorful clothes than anyone else in the game and then try to act like its a big deal.
Ilunc Dec 8th 2009 8:32PM
courts of law would be pretty awesome actually lol
Robert Dec 8th 2009 8:34PM
I read that as "courts of lawl."
