Reminder: Hunter and priest columnists application due on Friday

Do you know more about the game than Ghostcrawler?
Of course you do!
That's why, dear sir (or madam, we really can't tell and don't care to know), you could be the perfect applicant for the new hunter and priest columnist positions that have opened up. WoW.com is looking for two dedicated folks to fill these spots, willing to take on all the fun and excitement that comes with writing a weekly column for one of the largest WoW websites out there. The successful priest columnist would take over writing Spiritual Guidance, and the successful hunter columnist would take over writing Scattered Shots.
What are the perks, you ask?
Besides getting to sit in a chat room with all the writers and hear all the cool secrets we know about (aka, recipes for gin in coffee), you also get to have your voice heard by the masses, and get paid for it too!
So what are you waiting for? Head on over to our application guidelines page and apply today!
All applications must be received by the end of the day this Friday.
WoW.com is an equal opportunity employer, except for Gnomes and Murlocs, they need not apply.

First. And hopefully I was among the first to apply as well!
Esteban81 Dec 8th 2009 10:44AM
You're one of those guys who say 'first' and you're applying to be a regular columnist? Yeah, good luck to ya there.
Adam Holisky Dec 8th 2009 10:45AM
/facepalm
Patrick Dec 8th 2009 10:46AM
Eh, it was the first time I've ever done something like that -- and only because it was the post about the applications.
Yomamma Dec 8th 2009 10:47AM
Anyone who responds with a "FIRST" should be shot on sight...let alone offered a job.
Patrick Dec 8th 2009 10:49AM
Okay, apparently I struck a nerve with that. Thought it would be fun. I guess not. Down-rank it to oblivion.
Skonged Dec 8th 2009 10:54AM
Good luck. Just don't bring up the selling raid items you won. Especially if you can use them and they are an upgrade. For some reason it upsets people.
zappo Dec 8th 2009 11:12AM
I look forward to your massively informative "First article", each and every day.

I'm not sure which post-application strategy makes me laugh more. Patrick's "First!" or Skonged's "Hey, wow.com...look how much your readers hate me" blitz.
Skonged Dec 8th 2009 2:25PM
Here let me fix it for you...
"Hey, wow.com...look how much your readers are informed by me"
There all fixed. ;)

Looking over the guidelines for applying here, it says if there are any grammar mistakes then you stop reading. That must be a new rule, because I can't even count the number of times I've seen spelling and grammar mistakes throughout these posts.

If you think you can make a 10,000+ words/day site run without any textual errors, you need to share your secret with the world.
If there is a problem on the site, the editors fix it when we become aware of it. We have a 99.9% accuracy though, which I'm pretty proud of.
(cutaia) Dec 8th 2009 11:03AM
No kidding. Everyone's bound to make errors eventually, but if you let it slip by on your application, you're an idiot.
JaneLame Dec 8th 2009 2:31PM
I don't care that much about typos or an occasional grammatical error, really. I'm just glad to have a good news source about WoW that's unbiased, accurate, funny, insightful and free. I've been reading wow.com for 2 years, and it had its ups and downs, but it's mostly a really nice website.
Just sayin'.
Snuzzle Dec 8th 2009 4:49PM
If it was one person posting all those updates, then yes, you'd have a point there.
However, how often do these class-specific columnists post? A couple times a day?
If you cannot put enough effort into your post that it is at least free of glaring typos and grammatical errors, then I don't want to read it. I'm not talking about the occasional mistake, I'm talking about some columns I've seen which consistently have at least half a dozen typos. Fortunately, those columnists no longer write for the site, but that really just looks sloppy.
I'm glad to see that you want these folks to put effort into their apps to not have mistakes in them, but they should be putting the same effort into their columns.

I've got a marvelous recipe for an early morning gin-n-coffee drink as well. Take equal parts gin and coffee, toss the coffee, drink the gin.
jackfinished Dec 8th 2009 10:48AM
Where did you get my recipe???
Alanid Dec 8th 2009 10:47AM
If I actually knew anything about playing a hunter/priest as a level 80 I would apply, but since I don't I shall not.
Allison Robert Dec 8th 2009 11:35AM
Eh, that never stopped me from writing the druid column!
elvendude Dec 8th 2009 1:57PM
Not only that, but that also doesn't stop Alison from being the best writer on the site. =)
