Anyone else sensing a Darth Vader-esque ending to Arthas? Or similar to Grom? I am. I mean, I hope so.

I hope not. I just don't think that Arthas deserves redemption. I mean, he's pretty much always been a power-hungry jerk; before and after lich king-ification. (And similar argument against Vader's redemption too.)
If it has to go down that way, I'm hoping for Ner'zhul to get a chance and redemption. Sure, he's a power-hungry jerk too, but he's a more tragic figure overall than Arthas.

First of all, like someone else said, Arthas was never really a heroic figure. It's easy to be likeable when you're a crown prince, but as soon as he ran into any trouble (Stratholme) he went nuts. Sure, Ner'zhul contrived the plot to put Arthas in a no-win situation, but faced with a lot of bad options of how to handle Stratholme, he chose the absolute worst one imaginable. That was all his doing.
And second of all, what would he be rebelling against? Darth Vader's claim to redemption is very debatable, but at least he killed the emperor. Same for Grom with Mannoroth. Arthas, on the other hand, *is* the Big Bad. Everything we've seen suggests that. Arthas, Ner'zhul and the Lich King are all one person, even if they didn't start out that way, even if some of them supposedly wouldn't have done what the Lich King has, etc. I'm pretty sure the Evil Overlord isn't going to kill himself, and even if he were, why wait until the adventurers fought all the way to his throne room to do it?

Also, if you ever did the questline about Arthas' heart (which he REMOVED), Tirion makes it pretty clear there will be no redemption for the Lich King. I don't think that quest would have been included unless Blizzard wanted us to know that Arthas will never be anything but the Lich King-if we can even say Arthas still exists.

*SPOILER*
Well in the soundfiles that were datamined we already know that there allways has to be a Lich King or the undead armies would run rampart through the world tearing it apart. Since we are dethroning Arthas someone will have to man up and become the new Lich King. There are a lot of candidates who would take up the crown and the sword and command the legions of undead. Any of them:
Thrall
Varian
Muradin
Saurfang
Tirion
Mograine
Jaina
Sylvanas
to a lesser extent
Garrosh
Mankrik's wife
Abasik Kampfire
Sickly Gasele
and Peacebloom
