Um I am totally proud to be male and white, without holding any hate for the other people of the world. White men have a lot to be proud of.
Many great scientists, writers, warriors and poets were white men. We have a rich heritage and a track record of great civilizations.
White pride without hate does exist. But people would have you believe that being proud of being white means you're a racist. Not the same thing at all.

But do you hear people strutting around crowing "WHITE PRIDE!" or "Straight and proud!" Do you see bumper stickers on cars touting such? No, you don't.

Frankly, I'll bet if you walked around with a "White Power!" tshirt, you'd get a beatdown. But I could wear a tshirt that says "Girl Power!" and get much approval, especially from other women.

I cannot count how many bumper stickers, tshirts, tattoos, headbands, and keychains I've seen for gay pride, black pride, girl power, etc etc.

That's why you see more Horde shouting their allegiance form the rooftops. The Alliance are the default "good guys" in the same way being straight or white is seen as the majority group. So the underdogs, the minority, tend to to wave their differences around and are more likely to announce their pride in them.

If that makes any kind of sense.

@earthexile: I'm perfectly aware that majority/non-oppressed groups can have pride in themselves without that pride being hateful, but many people aren't, hence the hesitancy to have white/male pride.

Also, you need to consider that racial pride, female pride, gay pride, etc. come out of a history of being repressed. Minority groups were often told that they should be ashamed of who they are, and in spite of that, they still like themselves. That's where that kind of pride comes from; liking themselves for who they are in spite of society telling them they should not. (The same could possibly be said for some Horde players, who may have been pressured to play Alliance instead) White/male pride doesn't have such a base, and for that reason, some people view it as being baseless, even if it isn't.

"White pride without hate" earthexile? It takes a special kind of ignorance to I don't know, WORLD HISTORY, to say that with a straight face.

@Gamer am I: Oh, believe you me, White Pride does exist. And despite what your local Anti-Defamation League agitator might say, NOT all of them "hate the darkies". There is indeed a non-neglectable number of loonies in the White Pride spectrum (those falling more into the "White Power" or "White Supremacy" factions), just as there is definitely a non-neglectable number of looines in the Black Panther Party. But what were we talking about again? o_0
