Hotfixes incoming for some DPS and tanks, not hunters or priests

- Hunger for Blood will increase damage by 10% instead of 15%. Assassination rogues needed damage, but they got too much, and this will bring them back. Sorry rogues -- the tooltip, we're also told, might not change right away.
- Scourge Strike will crit only once, not on the shadow portion of the damage. "This change just proved to be too bursty in PvP and provide too much sustained damage in raids." He also gives lots more explanation of the change on the forums -- this one will be discussed quite a bit.
- Rolling Corruptions will no longer use the initial haste value indefinitely. More of a bugfix than a change, says GC -- the haste value should drop out to normal after a few ticks of the spell.

WoW.com is on an hourly timer, they have a huge backlog of stories and they get posted one at a time (could be days after the fact).
Drakkenfyre Dec 11th 2009 7:21PM
Actually, no. Some posts are timed to release at a certain time (Like the screenshots one, it's always written the night before, and is posted at 10AM the next day. If you find it before it's posted (the night before) it's still says posted 10AM.
There is no "backlog" of posts.

So glad for this mob fix. I hate the new instances enough without having to spend every other trash pack dancing around, trying to get everything in front of me.

For everyone experiencing the tilting camera thing, it's in the options, set camera to "Only Horizontal", that the old default.
Rylka Dec 12th 2009 8:11AM
Yeah, took me a few minutes to dig down and find that camera setting again. I haven't messed with that since I started playing years ago. Started moving my toon on patch day and got a little sick when the camera didn't do what I expected.

I think I'm fair in saying this, and not QQ'ing: I hope the Mut damage is still better than combat, since I spent a good deal of money and emblems re-gemming and glyphing to switch from combat to Mut after hearing how much damage difference there is in 3.3
Jackholla Dec 11th 2009 8:36PM
Being rogues, we should spec to our best weapons. Dual spec Combat/Mutilate, pre 3.3 should have giving you plenty of time to build both sets, but with the new LFG changes making badge farming stupid easy (you can get 4 peice T9 232 in a couple days), as well with the new loot available in the 5 mans, rogues should have no problem at all building multiple sets. Generally you'll still see more damage from Combat in Multi Mob fights/trash, Tank n' Spanks = Mutilate. Routinely playing both specs will also give you a better feel for the class and ease of switching back and forth. Our only utility is damage (ok maybe a kick now and then), so if you're out there to top meters, you'll know exactly when each spec will outperform the other.

The SS nerf hurts..... alot. Unholy has been slowly dying since 3.1 and this just continues the decay into a useless spec. While the diseases are nice, the burst and overall dps you can put out from has diminished. I noticed my dps actually decreased after the hotfix even though i was in better gear then before.... in the end it is quite frustrating. I wish the would just bring back the 3.2 or pre-3.1 Unholy spec and just leave it alone. I know people might downrate this because the smell QQ, but all i am is stating a valid opinion shared by alot of UH DK's
Neirin Dec 11th 2009 8:45PM
I think Unholy is moving more towards the disease based thing. An unholy dk I run with specced for max AoE diseases and pulled 13k on Faction Champs in ToGC 10 and can still pull about 7k single target in ilvl 232/245 gear.
Mike Dec 11th 2009 8:55PM
My main is a fully-disease-sporting, Shadow-blasting Unholy DK. My primary rotation almost strictly involves Scourge Strike, Pestilence (to renew diseases and spread them), and Death Coil + Unholy Blight (with Blood Strikes every now and then for Death Runes). I play it because it's fun and not because I get highest DPS (I don't raid often, and haven't had time to play all semester, so got a mix of 200-226 gear but broke 5k DPS in a recent ToC25 run).

The fix to HfB is a pretty reasonable one. The whole design of the talent is to cover what ever is lacking, so if there's another way of getting the numbers they want this is only a good thing.
Azizrael Dec 12th 2009 5:06AM
Why do I only find out about Warlock bugs after they're fixed? :D
Looking at the explanation for the Corruption changes, if you were to pop a haste trinket during Bloodlust/Heroism, chug a potion of speed and activate engineering glove enchants, something like 70% haste would affect your Corruption cast and then be refreshed by your Haunt.
wow Dec 12th 2009 6:38AM
Prob with the corruption "fix" is, it's broken the corruption / haunt mechanic. I spent more time re-applying corruption in ICC last night than was warrented. It's a crap shoot now whether haunt resets the timer.
Ratskinmahoney Dec 13th 2009 6:43PM
I've had this issue too. Only getting about 25% refresh rate on corr, and it actually drops off halfway through its duration most of the time.
Hoggersbud Dec 12th 2009 11:16AM
Man, I really hate it when Blizzard gives us a pony and takes it away.
That's how I feel about the SS nerf.
pwn3d Dec 12th 2009 1:39PM
I don't think the fix to HfB is reasonable at all. Rogues are a DPS CLASS, we cannot do anything else. If there are logs that show Rogues doing unreasonable amounts of damage where are they? I see on world of logs arcane mages and unholy DKs doing insane amounts of damage but where are the rogues? If they have data the supports this decision please show it to us.
