Perhaps it's because I'm a tank and I severely outgear most every instance, but I've had no problems with any PuG since this new system came out. The first one I did had a Frozen Orb ninja, but since then I've made it clear that everyone who wants it rolls need. Not been a problem since.
However there are people out there who don't know fights and are undergeared. I don't worry about it. I have my emergency buttons for a reason.

well you're lucky then. I've come to loathe tanking in this new system. i'm a decently geared frost tank (4800 gearscore if that helps give you an idea of the range), lots of AE threat, the whole nine yards. for me though i get every dps that doesn't know how to assist (or won't), can't use aggro reducing spells or misdirects.
when you have 3 dps each with a different target and none of them are you're, it makes you wanna pull your hair out.
I'd like to see this article or another dedicated to all dps because the new ban list just still isn't' long enough to accommodate the lot of you I've run with >_>

I have also found the new tool awesome with my tank. Today, I was queing in with a healer friend, and he got bored, so he respeced to dps, and that kept things moving along pretty quickly. Oh, and I have yet to see someone roll need on a frost orb.
Soon I'll start trying it with my mage, maybe it is more of a crapshoot without knowing you have(are) a competent tank.

On my prot warrior, I have a mark/charge macro. It's always amusing though, when you mark a skull and see the Hunters Mark appear on the guy next to it. Last night a hunter was real bad with it, very high dps, but had a pretty competent knowledge of his class, so he'd feign and such to prevent his own death.
Me, I didn't try to recover his target if my marked was still up. He was good dps, but he wasn't my healer... :-p

If you're taking the time to mark the targets in kill order, then I'm sorry for your bad luck in getting PUG's. If you're not marking, how are we supposed to know who to down first?

Target off the tank?
Wait two seconds for the tank to get a bit of aggro then attack whoever has the least health?
AoE everything in anything other than the new heroics?

On my tank, I have a macro that marks a skull as I charge, so they have an initial target. Usually by the time that one is burned down, I'll have enough AE threat on the rest. I have Assist (Tank) macro's for all my dps alts, and I know that if I'm in Arms spec and charge in then bladestorm, I should expect to die. I may still do it once or twice if I get bored, but I DO expect to die for it. :)
Last night in H-UK, the first pull, a dps pulled before me. After that, the big group, I charge inm smack, move to grab them all in a thunderclap and dps has already started on 2 different mobs before I've thunderclapped. Before the shockwave hits the ground I'm seeing AE. After the pull, one asked if I was having trouble holding threat! I didn't bother commenting, they were all geared and such, and I wasn't lead, so I just kept pulling.
Yeah, tank was in a bad mood, and with the new dungeon system if you're a prick, I can just leave. After the 15 minute debuff, it'll take me 5seconds to get a new group, and maybe they will know how shit works. :)

@GameOn Really? Target the tank and hit F, or get a good addon like Xperl and click the little target that comes up after the tank has picked his next target.

Can someone tell me how to make a macro to assist the tanks target? I have tried a few things, but I fail at macros.

@Kakistocracy and everyone else.... Isn't it just assumed that everyone rolls need on frost orbs?
Maby its just my server, but everyone always rolls need on them...
Infact LFG randoms was the 1st time i saw somone NOT roll need for them..
it was wierd, 4 people rolled need (includ. me) 1 person rolled greed and he went bananas. It can't just be me because there we're 4 servers represented and the other need'ers were just as suprised as i was....I had no idea on some servers its not an "assumed" need for frost orbs...
Also it may be just luck, but i have yet to have a "bad" group. I'll my heroics have been taking 15-30min even Occ =)

What I do in most of my groups is set focus on the tank, and turn on target of target in the interface menu. then I can just click on whatever the tank is targeting.
