As a mediocre fire-spec mage and an undergeared tank I can relate to a lot of this. I play for FUN. Ihave tanked heroics but am not def-capped, so if I get ToC or HoL I tell the group I'm not geared for it and leave (to which some warlock replied "If you can't tank EVERYTHING, don't tank"; What an idiot!). Unique perspective: I WAIT for my healer and DPS; as a tank my job is to generate threat NOT DPS. I get complaints we run too slow, but we rarely wipe (and I only do PuGs). My overall DPS as a mage is low, but I do well on bosses which is where it counts. The one thing I've found: if the group is all jerks it's 15 minutes to the next one. People who are respectful tend to have more fun.
