Breakfast Topic: Sylvanas, my new BFF

Okay, the best part of running random dungeons on my tauren is getting to hang out with Sylvanas.
In the new five mans (Forge of Souls, Pit of Saron and Halls of Reflection) Jaina Proudmoore is the Alliance NPC with a score to settle with Arthas, and she does a fine job and all, but Sylvanas... none of this conflicted, he was once my boyfriend, how can I kill the man I once loved stuff with Sylvanas. No, Sylvanas is all about one thing, and that one thing is killing Arthas: she only retreats when she's taken over five million damage! That's pretty stubborn.
In general I really enjoy the lore moments in both versions of the new five man, enough that I'll keep trying to run them as many times as is possible just to get to see them. Not to mention the climactic moment of the Deathbringer Saurfang encounter (which I completely spoiled for my Alliance guild... sorry, guys!) and I'd love to see the (heavy spoilers ahead please don't watch if you don't want to be spoiled I warned you this link is spoilertastic) Horde equivalent, perhaps on 10 man sometime soon.
So, how are you liking the lore of Fall of the Lich King so far? Not enough, too much, just right? How is your lore porridge, baby bear? Sorry, I haven't gotten to sleep much, too much PuGging.

I want to know where Sylvanas got her tanking gear, seeing as how my bare tank was one shot by the Lich King upon finding them in the chamber. Can't really say I was expecting that. Although I guess I should have been.

/agree
Sylvanis is a great character and they've done a great job extending her story line with the latest content patch.
If you're a horde player and you haven't done the Lament of the Highborne quest chain then I highly recommend you take the time.

It gives a great deal of insight to the Banshee Queen's character.

I have to agree. Jaina is cool and all but the Banshee Queen wins.

If you and Sylvanas are BFFs now, can you ask her to bring back her old voice please?
Zalvi24 Dec 12th 2009 8:34AM

Aion toons are PURDY... Dec 18th 2009 3:11PM
^^ This.
Her old voice was so much better, all dark, brooding, and just a little bit seductive...

I like her new voice - she sounds a lot like Fran from FFXII, without the weird irish-indian-scandinavian accent.

the new voice its no piera copola, but the new voice actress pull all her lines prety nice. Plus the new voice is kinda better suited for that hot bod :D

Well... Once was almost too much for the amount of drama and scripted NPC interaction in these new 5-man instances. I thought they would have learned the lesson with Halls of Stone and the endless Brann Bronzebeard scene... then I thought they would have learned after players started falling asleep in ToC interludes. I guess they can't completely eliminate scripted stuff, but my goodness it's awful. We really have to listen to the same lines from the Devourer of Souls every time we run that place? Good Grief.

Once all of the players in a dungeon group have successfully run those dungeons once there is an option to skip the long speeches.
Blizz learned its lesson from ToC-5.

I feel like a big damn hero. Saw Lich King beating on Jaina and threw my shield in his face to get him to stop. Very idiotic of me. But still, what doesn't one do for a Lady?
MusedMoose Dec 12th 2009 9:07AM
Wins for both Firefly reference and for being willing to tell the Lich King to "come get some." Even if it didn't work. *grin*

I don't know if it's just me, but I cannot STAND the voice they use for her. The battle for the undercity almost makes me scream.

I can't understand how anyone except some twisted goth kiddie could actually *like* Sylvanas. She's basically the Lich King, only with breasts (maybe that's it?) and a bow instead of a big sword.
MusedMoose Dec 12th 2009 9:11AM
She's not like the Lich King in several ways. First, she was raised as undead against her will, whereas Arthas sought out Frostmourne and embraced the power that comes from being Lich King. Second, she managed to break free of the Lich King's control, whereas Arthas seems to still be caught in his own internal power struggle. Third, she's the leader of the Forsaken, the free-willed undead, whereas Arthas just has the Scourge, most of whose thoughts seem to be pretty limited. *grin*
My apologies if I got any lore points wrong; please correct me if I did. I just wanted to point out that the two are actually quite different.
