World of Warcraft Patch 3.3.0a deployed

A small patch that corrects some bugs has just been deployed on live realms this morning. This patch coincides with short realm restarts.
We're not entirely sure what the bug fix patch does right now, but we're looking into it and will update this post shortly. Hopefully it fixes at least a few of the problems that have come along with The Fall of the Lich King last Tuesday. If you notice in the image above a link to patch notes, well, that link doesn't work. Apparently something was or will be there, but no such luck right now.

This patch brings the game from version 3.3.0.10958 to 3.3.0.11159. The patch file is about five megs in size.
Patch 3.3 is the last major patch of Wrath of the Lich King. With the new Icecrown Citadel 5-man dungeons and 10/25-man raid arriving soon, patch 3.3 will deal the final blow to Arthas. Hopefully they increase the drop rate of the battered hilt, I know I know its supposed to be hard to get but seriously I've run all three dungeons daily since release and I haven't even seen it drop, quite saddening since I want it because A.) Its Awesome and B.) For the figureprint the GF is buying me for Christmas.

I also think Battered Hilt will be involved somehow at least in part of this patch, but I am more suspicious that this hotfix is more likely to address the farming of the non-elite mobs in the Pit of Saron. This has become the new favorite realm pastime on my server.

FP's take about 2 months to get in. BTW
Phaelan Dec 14th 2009 11:44AM
nope, only on Heroic
I also ran it pretty regularly since the patch dropped and have yet to see it, i heard of guildies seeing it drop 3-4 times in one instance but since they nerfed the epic drop rates in the Heroics and ICC haven't heard too much of it...
also saw them on the AH for between 10k-25k since wednesday though i haven't seen one on there.

I have seen it drop 1 time.
Then I have seen 4 other random trash epics drop instead of it.... so even when you get the luck of getting an epic drop, sometimes it isnt even the hilt.
memzer Dec 14th 2009 12:35PM
On Frostmourne (US) the hilts are selling for around 13-15,000 gold on the AH. I've yet to get one but a few guild members are now funded for well into Cataclysm.
Barinthos Dec 14th 2009 12:48PM
Buying the hilt is a total waste of money IMO. If it's easily farmed from PoS by a hunter then why would you spend 10K+ gold on it? Only out of sheer and utter laziness would that be an option.
But meh, to each his/her own I guess. If you have the money go for it. But i'd rather try and get the hilt myself and get emblems and possible upgrades for OS at the same time.

Zaku, if you get that figureprint with the sword...you MUST post pictures...hell, email them to me or something!
Jimbo Dec 14th 2009 1:45PM
Doesn't it seem more likely this is stuff for the Winter Veil event which starts at Midnight tonight?
ZakuDoom Dec 14th 2009 7:42PM
Will do Thrust, alas ran again today with no luck, me thinks I need to curry favor with the RNG gods.

I don't understand.

Here's hoping for Mac fixes.
travis Dec 14th 2009 10:49AM
I'm not sure what problems are Mac related: I play on the new MacBook Pro and I haven't seen any problems.
On a side note... the patch is 11.1 MB
Also, maybe they will fix the titles for AV, AB, and WSG factions...

I've had a really bad problem since patch which I assume were mac related. I play on an older Macbook Pro (still intel chip though) and the problem is that my keys stick. It's not hardware side though, as I've plugged in an external keyboard, and tested out my keys in a few other MMOs. The problem started immediately after patch and has never been a problem before. It's a devastating bug when you're trying to raid or arena and find yourself stuck running in one direction and unable to do anything except get yourself or your party killed.

@ Dawn:
I too use a Mac to run WoW and I noticed the same weird running the wrong way "stuck" keys issue as you call it. In fact, its that the camera/follow/autolevel settings got messed up with the patch. If you go into interface and go under the camera tab, you can set it 4 different ways on a little drop-down menu. I can't remember which way is the "right" way for me, but all I know is I put it on each of the different ways until I found the right one and Im happy again!
Hope this helps.

that mac bug is not fixed but they have a work around posted
add this to your config.wtf file
SET gxapi "OpenGL"
the bug is that 3.3 on mac client deployed a new non working opengl engine that made frame rates cut in half and caused input lag throughout entire interface. blizz is aware of issue but 3.3.0a doesn't fix it yet, that's why they have a work around to tell client to use old rendering engine for now.
crschmidt Dec 14th 2009 12:09PM
Just want to confirm that if you are having Mac issues, you can likely solve them all via the:
SET gxapi "OpenGL"
fix. (Add this line to the end of your WoW/WTF/Config.wtf file; make sure you *quit WoW first*, otherwise it will override the setting when it closes.) This includes:
* Command key (apple) causing buttons to stick. (more of an issue on older macks, since ou have to command-click for right clicking)
* Weird dropping framerates
* Trackpad usage causing lag on 10.6
The latter one really got me; I'm mostly a keyboard user, but I'm also normally frost bitch on Anub. On Thursday, I literally had to give up; use of the trackpad at all causes the input of keystrokes and mouseclicks to be far delayed. (Imagine if each mouse pixel move had a .005s delay in it; moving across the screen now introduces a 5 second delay, whch is about what I was seeing.)
So if you're getting weird input lag, or crappy/terrible framerates, give this fix a try.

Wow, this is really great info from commenters =D Thanks you two. You have sufficiently rocked my socks.
BBslick Dec 14th 2009 2:29PM
@ Travis I don't think that's a mac problem I run windows and sometimes I get that stuck running happening...
Foxfyr Dec 14th 2009 2:32PM
Sticking once in a while is a pretty universal issue. However since 3.3 the mac keys stick ALL the time without using the workaround described above.
