Updated Armory app features Find an Upgrade, saved talent builds

The one big feature is that "Find an Upgrade" now works on the mobile app -- you can search directly in the app for a gear upgrade for any equipment slot on your character. That's a nice bonus; it means that while you're sitting on the bus with your iPhone, you can look through your gear, and figure out what you're going to be upgrading to in that waist slot the next time your guild heads up into Icecrown. I'd still like to see a little more integration with the game itself (a few MMO companies have hinted that they're pushing for more integrated iPhone tie-ins), but since the app is called Mobile Armory, and yes, is still free, I can't complain too much.

Any reports on functionality? In my experience using the app, it's quite clunky, so if the new release included some smoother coding that would be excellent.

This new release works pretty smoothly on my iPhone. I think they have definitely made some improvements in that respect.
So glad to see the new Rep tab! It's omission was bugging me :)

Working pretty fine on my iPhone 3G, always has been, the only problem i've had in the past is if you open the app too quickly after unlocking your iPhone while it connects to a wi-fi network, it fails to login automatically.
Just tested this now, and it seems to have been fixed, my app logged in properly this time round :D

WTB profession info. Doesn't seem too much to ask for.

Bah, bring out an Android version.
Ringo Flinthammer Dec 15th 2009 9:09PM
Do you guys have an authenticator app yet? That's what I'd expect to see first.
scherbaddie Dec 15th 2009 9:23PM
just make a j2me so everyone can run it (like they did with authenticator)
scherbaddie Dec 15th 2009 9:28PM
on second thought, don't even bother. I just used my browser to go to the site.

Agreed. There are third-party armory apps, which do a good enough job, I guess.
I'd love an Authenticator app, though. Carrying it around on my keychain is such a waste when I could just have it on my phone. Come on Blizzard.

There is an authenticator for your phone. I don't know if it's an app though.

I want to see an official armory app AND authenticator. Especially an armory app that lets me tweak my calendar, and export to google.
Wow furnace is nice, but I would like an official one.

I can has Android?
stieinberg Dec 15th 2009 9:03PM
we still can't choose to view loot from the heroic versions of all the WoTLK dungeons though :(
Ringo Flinthammer Dec 15th 2009 9:07PM
I'm glad we finally got reputations added.
My only issue is that I replied to a dungeon invite using my phone -- it was nice to have the little "1" show up on the home page of my iPhone -- but while my approval of the invite showed up on my personal in-game calendar, the guy who invited me didn't see it, even hours later.
The Armory is getting better and better all the time, but it's not quite there yet. (For one thing, there should be a way to import Google Calendar data, so that other, older raiding sites can interact with the in-game calendar automagically.)

Just adding more support for an Android version.
Grishmak Dec 15th 2009 9:31PM
Works great! I always thought a spell power trinket would be a great upgrade for my tank.
Fara Dec 15th 2009 9:43PM
Indeed. The Upgrade Finder absolutely fails. Ah well. At least it sorts things by iLevel at lower levels for you.
RobMan Dec 15th 2009 9:47PM
Ok..im not that great with phones so this might be common sense, but..
Are these Apps only available for ipod/iphone?
Or can i get it on a different phone?
I have a Samsung Impression, if that means anything.
Gokex Dec 15th 2009 10:12PM
There already IS an android version.. and it's had find an upgrade for weeks...
Graham Dec 15th 2009 10:19PM
Yay! Downloading now. I figured they would be updating it since there is a new (I think) "tentative" option in the calendar. At least they have that little bit of integration- letting your guild know whether you'll be playing with them.
I think they did a great job with this app. It's handy to be able to look up guildie's gear without minimizing WoW.
