The WoW Insider Show went on the air last weekend, and despite the fact that we started out down two voices, the discussion was fast and furious, as we all had plenty to say about patch 3.3 and specifically the Dungeon Finder system. Adam Holisky, Turpster, and I started off the show, and then Matthew Rossi muscled his way in (as only someone of his stature can do) to join us in discussion on finding dungeons, Authenticators and the Corehound Pups, and since Rossi made it, we had to talk some shaman and warriors as well.
Bad news, all: we didn't win the podcast award we were up for (congrats to the 4Player Podcast, who won the award and are now our sworn enemies -- we're igniting the rivalry!). But as we say on this show, we'll still be doing the bedtime story for you all anyway, just because you're so great. And yes, above is the check I'm mailing to Turpster for guessing the patch 3.3 release date correctly -- don't let it ever be said that we here at WoW.com aren't men of our word.

Taping over your address makes sense. Taping over your routing info and account number makes perfect sense. The only thing I don't get is taping over what appears to be your middle initial in your name. But, unless I'm missing something, isn't that on your signature?
I pretty much hate that they nurfed Occ. :( It was my favorite instance because you really had to think about what your doing instead of being a mindless AOE zombie. Oh well. Say-la-Vee. (My french is ultra-bad)
Yea, Oculus was never really hard as long as at least 3 or 4 ppl understood the drakes. It was generally easy enough to explain the fight to 1 or 2 ppl and get by with minimal wipes.
I finally got the joy of running the nerfed Oc the other day. My first experience was on when the random popped on my lock. I was mounted doing the jousting daily; so it didn't automatically port me to the instance, but I was part of the group. A couple ppl dropped and my first thought was that we must have drawn Oculus! I went ahead and dismounted / ported to the instance and sure enough, it was Oc.
Later that day, I drew Oculus as the random daily on my spriest as well. Everyone stuck it out, and the tank let me ride the red drake so I could finish my Experience Drake Rider achievement. Everyone seemed to know the drakes for the most part, altough there was ZERO communication on the time stops for when the last boss does his mini-enrage (which all i know it as is "Such insolence, such arrogance"). But even with totally botching those time stops, we only lost 1 player during the fight and still one shotted it and got the 20 minute run achievement.
It truly is a joke now. If only more ppl would give it a chance and see this for themselves. As DPS, it truly sucks to have to sit in the LFG queue for another 10-15 minutes to join a new random daily because ppl are afraid of The Oculus.
On a side note, I've had a couple groups disband on me now when doing the random dungeons. I found that if you leave group, you get the 15 min debuff. However, if everyone else leaves first (automatically disbanding the group entirely), you will not get the debuff! (Now that I've said that, the last 2 ppl will sit there and argue, "You leave..." "No, you leave...")
Sidenote @Abaddon and everybody else Waiting it out until the group disbands might be a valid way of skipping the deserter debuff, but unless you absolutely hate the instance and refuse to run it, simply requeue. This will put you back at the FRONT of the queue for more members instead of waiting another 10~15 minutes to get a different random dungeon, which will probably be the same dungeon you just deserted, thanks to Blizzard's awesome "Random" Number Generator (I can hear riots of laughter going off at Blizz HQ and the sobs of anybody who's done gathering quests where the last item JUST WON'T DROP)
OMG.. would you guys pleeeeeease get your levels taken care of. Mike, you're too quiet... I do love listening to Turpster, but the rest of the company does not. (I know, weird right)

Secrets...

I think that is a piece of tape holding the other piece over his address, but i could be wrong.
Starsmore Dec 15th 2009 1:35PM
Mike: "Hey, Turpster, I betcha another $20 you can never guess my middle initial!"
Needless to say, that was a bet soon lost.

Thanks for giving us a copy of your legal signature.
Stephen Dec 15th 2009 2:46PM
A signature that includes your middle initial
Jen Dec 15th 2009 3:11PM
Yet the routing information is also still there. Should probably change the entire photo, this can't bring good things :(

Check #286? I remember when I was sixteen, too. Those were good days.
Egrep Dec 15th 2009 3:00PM
Or that's a check written from his seldom-used "Making good on lost bets" account.
There's no overdraft protection on that account. That's just how crazy Mike Q. Schramm is.
Adam Holisky Dec 15th 2009 11:00PM
Or...
Who writes checks anymore? In the past six years I've maybe written 10.
