Shipping costs removed from Authenticators

Ancilorn answers some other Authenticator questions as well -- there's no discount for buying multiple units at all; what you see is what you get. And while the only authenticator for purchase at the moment is the Corehound branded unit, there may be more art available in the future, and of course you don't need a Corehound-branded Authenticator to get the Corehound Pup pet. Any Authenticator will do that, including any of the authenticators made for mobile phones, as long as it stays attached to your account. Whew -- that should answer all the questions anyone has. As we said the other day, if you don't have one of these yet, it's probably time to look in to getting one. Not only will your account be more secure, but you'll get that free pet as well.

Damn it! I want a refund of my shipping! I was a early adopter and I need to be compensated! QQ. Whine. Cry. me me me!
Oh wait.
It is nice to see them make this even easier to get, it helps make the game a safer place, if you don't have one get one. Really.

I ordered mine months ago as well, but I never paid shipping, I remember the order was exactly $6.50. Maybe Blizzard just likes me. :P
slyman.is.god Dec 16th 2009 7:09PM
shipment for the US only? 'cause I live in latin america and I still have to pay 23 bucks shipment 8(
Ricohardt Dec 16th 2009 11:29PM
Canadian version is also still charging shipping, over 10 bucks worth.

EU Version is even shittier.
Before the change, shipping to Israel costed 60 euro (for a 6 euro product!).
After the change: No shipping to israel, at all!

Yeah. Someone is buying one for me and they still have to pay shipping and handling.
NightRayne Dec 18th 2009 9:25AM
To the person saying they are still charging shipping to Canada, maybe it depends on where in Canada...
I live in Ontario Canada and ordered mine last week, only about $6.50 was charged to my credit card and it was delivered within 3 business days. I was shocked it was so fast!

Thank goodness for that,
Since I do not own a compatible phone and my location in the UK, getting an authenticator would have set me back nearly three times the listed cost, now it is cheaper I will pop over and get one for my account

You can use the mobile version on any phone as long as it can run java midlets. http://deathcoil.net/authguide.html
some time ago i have been using one from Sun's emulator that comes with J2ME SDK on my PC lol.

Unfortunately, this does not appear to apply to Australian orders, even if ordering from the US store. Shipping still costs substantially more than the actual authenticators. Thanks for caring about the safety of us foreigners too, Blizzard.
The Claw Dec 16th 2009 7:22PM
Yeah still charging $20.68 for shipping to Australia.. for a package that probably weighs all of a few grams. :-(
tonedeff Dec 16th 2009 7:23PM
I'm geting told that thet wont ship to my address, Melbourne Australia is listed as one of the countries they ship to.
Blizzard are starting to annoying with this authenticator. They basicly want all of use to be using one. But yet they make it costly and difficult to obtain. I've even tried downloading the mobile version BUT they dont support any of the new model Lg's.
Very disapointed!

Thanks for screwing us Aussies again, Blizz!
Mr. Tastix Dec 17th 2009 1:57AM
You think you're unlucky? The bastards won't even ship it to my address! So sure, Australia's getting screwed over with shipping but New Zealand gets screwed over ENTIRELY.
That's just bloody retarded to be honest. Ah well, I can sleep easy knowing Left 4 Dead wasn't banned in this country (which sucks for you guys to be honest... Australia rules! I be Aussie!).
Felix_NZ Dec 16th 2009 7:15PM
Haven't tried it yet, but looks like us in TheRestoftheWorld get free shipping too! no more $30+ authenticators to NZ/Aus!
Avrador Dec 16th 2009 7:18PM
Orders to Latin America/Canada/Autstralia/New Zealand still seem to have shipping.
Even just north of the border it would cost me $17 :(

Where are the authenticator apps for windows, mac, and smartphones across different providers. I have an RSA soft-token on my laptop for work - why not blizzard?
Viper007Bond Dec 16th 2009 7:55PM
Having the authenticator on your computer almost defeats the purpose of having one in the first place. If your computer is hacked, the authenticator is supposed to stop them from stealing your account as it's a separate device.
It'd be like storing the key to your safe on top of the safe. Yes, someone still has to break into your house first, but it defeats the purpose of using a safe.

I wish there was a choice for what skin you got. When I bought my authenticator they had the original design showing on the page... and what I got shipped to me was the Starcraft 2 design =S All well and good but some warning would have been nice!
Vaeku Dec 16th 2009 9:03PM
Agreed. Had I known that they were going to change the skin to the current one, I would have waited a month to get it. I have the Starcraft II design, and don't particularly care for Starcraft (never played it, but that's not the point).
