I found out the hard way that the gear score calculator takes the gear in your bags into account: while working on a retribution set for my paladin (which was mostly blues with a BoE purple or two) the very first random heroic I queued for turned out to be the Forge of Souls.

My first reaction was something along the lines of "oops!" But since my healing gear was mostly Naxx 10 drops I was apparently qualified...

We completed the run and I didn't do too shamefully, but I dropped group afterward with my apologies, saying I shouldn't continue to the Pit of Saron with my current gear.

Oh my... perhaps I should remove my pvp gear from my bags whilst I queue for the random heroics.
